Review: Last ASCENSION boat cruise

Ill do a short review when i wake up. It is 10:04am now, left here (kitchener) yesterday at 5pm. and got up at 10 am yesterday so yeah, little tired.
Will get back to ya, but Luke Spellbound was amazing.

Oh man... dammit... i'm tired and my neck and legs and ears are well abused.
THis has to be the most wikid mix of trax on a boat I've ever heard!!
I've never done a review for an event b4, so just lemme rant/describe/comment lots.:D
I just woke up at 1:pm, but I got home about 6:AM. the boat got back at 4:15am and I was sorta sad to know that this was the last one... but damn.... I'll remember it for sure!!
first thing... there's one track I just found from Luke Spellbound's set, which as Ampz said already... was purely amazing... such a rich mix of trax and he mixes so damn well, eq's done right, effects in just the right places. anyways... that track is Megara VS. DJ Lee - Full Intention, and I believe it's the original mix). (LOOK FOR IT AMPZ!!! IT'S SO GOOD!!).
One thing is was super surprised about was how old Dr. Trance is!! It's great though, how an old guy can still like this music and spin it. Good for him. His set started with a mix of "the love boat" with a trance beat behind it... that was funny... but not my kinda music. His set went off with some other old trance that I'd never heard b4... but it was a good set nevertheless. not as uplifting as I'd like, nor as hard as the other DJs.
OS2!!!---- set was damn good!! what a great set to get everything moving!! I'm too tired to remember most of the trax, but so many were familiar!!.. this guy must have so many records from the 90s. I asked him where he gets his stuff... he said the Pit.. wow!... that's some shameless promotion for that store!... i guess i'll drop in more often. Then I also asked him what he thinks of the new 1210 M5Gs, and he said "you're getting too technical for me".. lol!! His dex are 11 years old! original 1200s! but yea his set was great... it really got the boat going. He knows what he's doing.
Barkin' Boy --- that was a great set. His mixing was off in 1 or 2 places... as in the beats started to wreck, but he was quick to fix. his choice of trax made a hard set, with some uplifting feel... musta been some older tracks... they were awesome!! when this guy comes back to TO, I really wanna see him spin.
Saint Pete's set was very well done. I could tell he was surprised with how much the decks were wobbling on those cool wobble-tables... the boat was giving those dex a beating, but they kept on running. 2 or 3 skip points were funny to hear, b/c we were all dancing too hard and too close the the booth. his set was nice and progressively hard-style with a few classics in the mix... OS2 and Barkin boy pulled a few classics as well... like PVDs newwest track was dropped....that was incredible... the floor was in bliss!! Pete really knew what we needed to hear for his part of the nite.
Luke Spellbound... this set was the finisher and what a great one indeed. He kept it going with some crown pleasers, b/c it was a bit progressive at first. He dropped in some great trax like "KernKraft - Loneliness", "Dumonde - God Music" (<<-- prep for next friday!!!), and basically his set was amazingly mixed. not as many effex as teh others, but his transitions and trax played were just fine for the finisher to the bill.

.they were using a Pioneer DJM-500....that's a sweet mixer.
.there were a few annoying kandy-kids on board... but meh... as long as they didn't ruin the fun too much. Only 2 whistles were heard.
allthe rest has fukin passifiers in their mouths... wtf?....!
.I'll admit that I was doing some n00ber glowsticking (red and yellow).
.it was amazing to be in the lower deck and you could see the ceiling from the top deck banging up and down to the beat.. wow.. there was even a point where the boat was swaying to every 2 or 3 beats...damn!
.water, $4; ticket, $35; 2 glowsticks, $6; being on my first and last Ascension boat cruise: priceless.
I migth add other stuff as I remember it. but WOW THIS WAS FUKIN GREAT! |

wow, this was probably the best acension ive been to, to bad it has to be the last.
saint pete! , what a great surprise to get to hear him spin again.
os2/dr trance/barkin boy and luke spellbound were also amazing, music kept me wanting to dance all ngiht.
best part of the night, meeting up with Maverick!!! great to see ya finally man!
btw f00 , that guy who came up to you was probably me, i was in a white hoody and a grey hat

ok got 4 hours of sleep so im good, working on mr noodle now.
Anyways, Great show, massive fun. Not the best party ive been too, that still goes to Johan and WEMF, but well worth the $60 it cost me to get there

Dr. Trance. Way to bring the Love boat. Great lead-up to the main events
Barking Boy - Work, Aussie DJ's = MAD MIXING SKILLS! Massive tunes, stayed upstairs all evening
Luke Spellbound - First of all, 1st class chap. That Tune (thanx Sgt. Foo) Was amazing. What a drop. Also I cant remember if you or BB dropped E52 -Cafe Del Mar (MArco V) but it was massive. Much respect for the cd, crainked it all the way home 3 times.
Saint Pete - What can i say? mint as always and didn't get cut off. lol. should have played that last tune man at the end. Amazing stuff, will hope to catch ya around and would love to get your vinyl
OVerall. Great Evening. the 2 hour wait for the bus sucked, maybe if it went longer...hint hint, next time cause ya gotta do it again, that cant be the last.

| sorry guys...I was having a pretty bad night (I don't feel like elaborating..) and debate whether I should have gone now, but the music, from what I remember hearing, was pretty good, with the best mixing from the hardstyle DJ's Barkin Boy and Luke Spellbound. Good vibe overall there. |

| I had a good time at Ascension, however the weather was cold and some of the tunes that were spun were not that good. All and all it was wicked, and Ill forever remember the cruises and miss them. |
