I did a search and couldn't really find any threads that annswered my question :

Can you intelligent fellows please give me a run down on the (good) hardware drum synths and their advantages/disadvantages ?
hey cheggy
Elektron MachineDrum (expensive. good sound. More than just a drum machine. Great if you want to produce techno style music)

JoMoX Airbase 99 (no idea what its like)

Novation D-Station (makes drum sounds)

Personally, I think they're all the same. They make drum sounds. Some are obviously going to be better than others and some are going to cost more.

There are also a few software alternatives such as Waldforf Attack and Battery by Native Instruments. Personally, from experience, I think you may be very dissapointed with the sounds available from these expensive drum machines considering the cost of them. Your other option is use a sampler instead and just find good samples of drums and percussion. There's plenty of them out there for free, you just need to look for a while.
