New short Acid mix..In tribute to Brain- what do you think?

ok so it's been more than 2 months since my last mix, and i juuuust upgraded to techs the other day.
i threw together an impromptu (Not practiced!) mix in tribute of Brain, my fav. acid producers. it's about 50 mins long, and it's hard acid trance. stuff your neighbors are guaranteed to hate . ;)

First transistion was fairly rushed, and I think it was a bit too bass/mid heavy.
Second transistion was very nice, but it really slowed down the pace of the mix, Switch On Your Brain is a very energetic track, so I think it would have been nicer for the Plasma track to be thrown in a bit sooner.
Plasma -> ASYS:Fairly spot on beatmatching, I think the levels were a bit different but still a nice mix.
Fourth transistion was a bit rough, incoming track was prety quiet I thought, and the mix was really short, it could have used some help I guess.
I have to go out now but I'll finish the review later.

a friend of mine told me about this mix earlier today..
first of all..you got great taste of music!
Brain is also among my absolute favourite producers! I've had their latest release "acid message" on repeat for the last couple of days ;)
..anyway..
the selection of tracks couldnt been much better and, not to be too specific, most of the transitions were good..
I give it 9/10 - Really banging mix!  |

I figured that if u spent 7 hours upping this,the least I could do is give you a proper review;) So here it is:
I have nothing to complain about on your tuneselection , Acid Headcracker is a big fav of mine,Brain delivers his usual acid quailty and that DJ Mishka's Mad Gay Mafia track is awesome stuff,love the way the synth and the acid riff builds together. The rest is pure bangin stuff from one end to the other. Props!
Technically however,this needs some work. Structurewise, the first half isn't that well done.Like mikefassy said, Switch On Your Brain should have been played later in the set when the pace was higher. If I did this mix,I'd have put them in this order:
DJ Crack - Singular 2000 (Unix Remix)
Plasma - Restricted Access (Ray Clarke Mix)
Riddler & Headcrusher - Plasma Fire
A*S*Y*S - Acid Headcracker (303 Inferno Mix) (Tracid Traxxxx)
Brain 38 - Switch On Your Brain (Psycho Sirens Mix) (Brain)
DJ Crack,Plasma and R&H would be a nice build-up to the Brain-fury that is unleashed later, plus Plasma Fire and Acid Headcracker are both the works of Frank Ellrich, which is noticeable productionwise. Hence the tracks also go well together in a mix. The rest structurewise is nicely made.
Mixingwise this isn't too bad for a spontaneous mixing session. Some of the transitions have slightly dodgy beatmatching, but generally the mixing flows nicely. All I can say is keep on practicing, you'll mix smoothly in no time! :) |

i'm glad you found the songs good...nice to know there's another big acid fan out there!
and i'm happy to know that yet another person knows that headcrusher is frank ellrich! awesome! hehe i'm the world's biggest Riddler & Headcrusher fan. just ask riddler. ;)
yes i didn't plan out the tracklist at all, i kinda just grabbed trax that i thought would go well. i probably would restructure it a bit also..although on the dancefloor i think i would keep the order (to give the kids a break after switch on your brain, hehe).
i will def. keep practicing, i made that with only 8 months of spinnin behind me so i hope to get better.
i should have a new mix coming as soon as i get a new mixer!
