Any Trance in Central Texas? (Also: anyone from Boston)

First, what do you guys think of trance in the US versus Europe (or even Canada)? Do you think the US gets "bent over the table"? Or "is the grass always greener on the other side of the fence" for US fans?

A Little info:
Used to live in Maine (70 miles north of Boston) and at least people knew what trance/ambient/house was. Here in College Station TX, nothing. All I get is Top40 and country, it is a sad state of affairs. I would give my left nut to turn on the radio and hear some form of electronic music. Not the antithesis - country - from half of the staions. Well At least, we have this site and access to solid trance.

Also:
Anyone from Boston? I haven't been back in 3-4 years and I am wondering what venues are any good? Axis or Avalon still around? Anything else.

Sorry about the rant, I have been working on a research grant (for many hours straight which is due in 8 hours) that will pay my salary (only if we get the extension) and I would like to hear some good music. I guess I'll have to stick to the CD-Rs bruned from this site.

Any advice from other isolated trance fans?

I used to live in Austin, but now live in Arlington..(just info)
You're certainly not going to be hearing ANY good trance or anything else on the radio for quite a while here. Its catching on but not popular enough to be played on the radio yet my friend, not here in Texas anyhow. If you wanted to hear some good trance you should have came up here to the Dallas area for the Zen Festival where Tiesto was spinning (amongst others). So for now you'll have to settle for local parties (renegades, raves, clubs), and the internet to be hearing any good music.

Isn't D:Fuse from Austin?

I was an isolated trance fan in Milwaukee for 4 years, and all I can say is to stick it out. If nobody, I mean nobody has interest in it, there's a big resistance to something that different to themselves,, and everyone but your closest friends will look at it like its alien music and just freak about it. At least that's how it was then - it just sucked, and after that I had to move to London after graduating.

Check out Austin if i'm right about D:Fuse. There might be a following. Raves might always be an option, if the age thing doesn't bother you. Give up on the radio, even if they played proper trance, they'd never get it right in the US. Check this thread I put out for international online radio stations that have good DJ broadcasts over the internet:

I don't know if that helps, but that's all I know...

Hey acidfast I live like 45 min south from Boston. Axis and Avalon are still around. Theres a new radio statino 103.7 WFNX and on Friday nights they do a live set from Axis its usually spun by a guy named DJ Trailor. On a college radio near where I live on Saturdays from like 10 P.M to 2 A.M all the play is trance its pretty good.

In centex, there is trance only in the more 'upscale' clubs in houston, dallas and a few in austin. D:fuse was a resident in austin, but now tours with oakie. Tranceaddict is about the best source for your trance habit. Yeah, the majority of texans continue to think of trance as 'the stuff you listen to while on 'e' '....yeah, it's ing shallow. So, just continue to d/l from TA.com and hope things get better. I'm from austin by the way, in austin check out 'element' on sat. and thur. for decent trance. layta
