exactly wot i think. i mean yeah if u know ur already then u can make sense of the bull in there, but every1 seems to direct new guys to it who just wont have a chance of comprehending the crap in there and if they do manage to then they will know the wrong stuff because nearly all the example tunes he uses are so wrong its ridiculous.
one day ill stop winging and make my own :p |

There will be neverending, REDUNDANT :crazy: arguments about this. Just listen what well-intentioned others have to say, and then decide for yourself what is what. I try not to convince you but I do tell you why I have convinced myself.

Yeah, I mean, up there, DRM sure represented his tastes in music well with that. That's a totally cool thing to do.
Problem is if extending arguments begin -- i.e. Person A lists some DJs/producers, and then Person B says "THOSE AREN'T PROGRESSIVE TRANCE ARTISTS!!!" And then the thread goes to hell in a handbasket.
One reason I like Ishkur's Guide so much is that even though it has a very snarky, sharp sense of humor, the sounds are invaluable and pictograms of a genre map are a lot of fun. OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO READ THE DISCLAIMERS!!! Take it with a grain of sugar. Or a grain of salt. Your choice. *sighs*
But seeing as how no direct alternative to Ishkur's (we'll call it EDM AT ISH'S like EAT AT JOE'S) currently exists -- at least not one that I know of, and if you know of one please let us know! :D It's better to check it out and decide for yourself instead of never having seen & heard it. Only by collating and collaborating multiple sources can you establish a well-defined, accurate personal thoughtline. Otherwise, it's like shooting blanks without a gun.
Raw data is processed by the self and then mined into usable information. Similarly, only after digesting food can you make use of it. Juggling apples and oranges may be a tricky feat, but it's not the same as being fed. ;) |

Ishkur has an opinion. You're opinion differs. If you don't agree with Ishkur's opinion that's your own problem, but it doesn't make his guide any less accurate. And quite frankly, I'd trust his knowledge on EDM over yours. He doesn't like trance. You don't like what he says about trance. Who's wrong there? Nobody. Stop being hypocritical. |
