yeah.....I paid $5,140 this year, which is my third!! Last year it was $5,030 and the year before it was $4,900!! the Tories....seriously!! It probably doesn't matter, since Eves just called an election....hehe...go LIBERALS!!
Now I have to get books, and that's going to be about $950 after taxes. |

$2,300 in my bank account as of Thursday
$2,200 for my first semester tuition.
------
$100 left for books
$65 for the average book
4 classes = 4 books
4 * 65 = $260
$100 in my account
$260 in books
-------
-$160
Looks like I won't be drinking beer for a while. :( |

You're bitching about a $100 increase year-on-year for a world class education?
No offense, but if an increase of less than $10 / month gets you riled up then you need to take some joga or something. |

it shouldn't be going up at all and it never should have in the first place.
the govt. should be focusing on education and healthcare and stop privatising our services (hydro for one)...i come from a working class family and am barely getting by...actually the only reason I can pay my own tuition is because i got hired with the City of london which pays seasonal workers very well for outside work in the summer. I can't get any OSAP because my parent's make too much (if you call $45,000 a year too much:rolleyes: ) Bursaries and scholarships are basically nonexistent unless you have an 85+ average (mine is 78.2). The Tories have made unversity education for the "elite" class...instead of for anyone who had the marks like it used to be. I hardly call that fair...education and healthcare are far more important than 200 dollar tax rebates. |

School is a business. Period.
Try going to school in the States and then come back and bitch...
The "Liberalization" of the system will just harbour those that have no specific purpose of being in school to begin with, which actually isn't a bad thing...
Why?
Because teachers teach people to become teachers.
Those with A's become teachers...
Those with B's work for the people who got C's who work for the owners who got D's... (oh how true this is...)
School never taught me anything about budgeting, buying a car/house, dealing with money, dealing with people (<-- a huge one), etc., etc.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not jaded, school does expand one's mind (minus the drugs) and does teach how to budget your time and live like a pauper on a shoe-string money purse; something everyone should go through at least once in their life.
I know this is hard to read for some of you because I've been there and didn't want to believe it either...
*sigh* ah well...if I could turn back the clock...
