I agree that same sex couples should be free to marry if they choose since it's their choice and who are we to stop them ..
what i don't know about is whether or not our society is ready for it. What I mean is that I fear for the children in the sense that they could face ridicule in schools for having same-sex parents for which they have no control over. Until our society fully accepts this, the children of such couples will undoubtedly face such challenges among many of their peers.
(i therefore consider myself, moderately left-wing regarding this issue) |

In todays society, we have to learn that there needs to be a seperation of church and state. |
Very true! We also need to realize that there must be a seperation of industry/big business and state as well!
As for the same sex parenting thing – of course it's fine, didn't you guys ever see My Two Dads? :toothless |

exactly...
the age old belief is that we must have a mother and father to raise us...The idea of having two fathers, or two mothers is scorned upon because the child will grow up "confused"...while this may have been true..10 to maybe 15 years ago...times are changing VERY rapidly and i dont think a child in todays world will be confused. If they get the right amount of love and understanding and all other things that a "Parent" gives out, then gender becomes an issue that is alot easier to deal with.
i support same sex unions strongly! |

I totally agree with Tatgirl, same sex parenting is just as loving and educational as heterosexual parenting. If not even more, I personally have seen same sex couples raising a baby and let me tell you they take care of that baby like no one else would! just for the fact that they can't have one whenever they want to.
As for the religious part---Ryanm said it all.
How many mothers are out there dropping their babies in garbage cans? Lately it has been more usual to hear stories like these, as well as teenage pregnancy and divorce. Some animals take better care of their offspring than some parents do.
Worst comment I heard on the news this weekend : "If same sex marriage is approved Heterosexual marriage is going to be endangered" Hahaha----Give me a break!! Endangered of what??? As if more guys or girls will say oh ok before I had to pretend but now I can do what I want.......look at the divorce rate you morons!! |
Unfortunately, fewer same sex marriages than hetro marriages actually last. And do you really think that a man can have the same sort of maternal influence as a mother? |

I am wondering if a gay couple adopt a chid, will they raise him/her to be gay?? that would be sick
also say the kid is straight, growing up in such environment is rather disturbing if you ask me
as you can tell, I am against gay couples adopting children |

Exactly. Where are u getting your numbers from, especially since Canada is only the 3rd country in the world that allows same sex marriages?
I think I'd have preferred if I had a gay 'mom'- lord knows I can't stand my real one. |

I am recently divorced, and adopted my ex-wife's son while we were together and still see him as often as possible.
I was both father and mother to him, and the only parent he really had. His mom loves him, and is a good mother in that regard, but is not a capable "parent". I was playing dual roles, so as long as you have enough love in your heart, a man an be as maternal as a woman.
Again, I personally have a level of distaste for saying either staight or gay couples are "good" or "bad" @ parenting. The main point I think is overlooked in all the generalizations is that good parents are hard to come by, so the addition of a new goup to the parental pool will bring both good and bad people to the job of parents, so perhaps we should focus on helping all people being better parents period. |

Sexuality has nothing to do with what KIND of person you are, it's just a part of you that you express and share how you want.
Who and how and why you love and make love to someone doesn't ordaine the quality of a person you are, and how fit/unfit you are to parent.

your 2 cents is dead on...i agree totally with this... |

i dont even understand why this is an issue...like who cares ..oohh lets not let people with blue eyes marry poeple with green eyes...it makes no sense let people do what they want
adopting a kid at least has issues you can argue, but why stop ppl from getting married?? |
