X-Hale - Sui Generis (Halo Version)

I promised this mix a few days back, well it's been mastered and is ready for you lovely people to take a listen.

Obviously, this is my take on another fellow Tranceaddicts tune, which i made while i was offline moving house. It's not over the top hands in the air trance, but it is trancey, has quite a drive to it, and some nice techy percussion (as always in my productions).

I added a great piano line too, which George's original version didn't have, so it makes the whole track sound different to the style if originally was - which is kind of the idea of making your own version :)

Hope you people are going to enjoy this - as always, drop a line to say you've listened to it :p

i look forward to your comments.

Cheers everyone, almost 24 hours since i posted this and no replies - you know how to make someone feel good about themselves!! :(

i probably wont post any more of my music on here.
arctic
I'm downloading it now, still on a ing 28k

Anyhow, just give it time, once the first reply lands, there are always more...
Mr.Mystery
I'm sorry for having a life.
Was gonna download it as soon as I got home but I'm not sure it's worth it after the guilt-tripping...
arctic
Guilt trip accepted ;)

I've had a quick listen, not a proper one mind you, and on first impression it seems awesome, wicked funky baseline, the piano is nice as well. It does ride over the mix a bit, but that isn't nesecarily a bad thing...

If i notice anything utterly horrible that i missed i'll be back :p
rb2k1
I like this song it has a cool groove to it :D i like your piano work a lot in this track.. i think you did a nice job with it :) good work.. and.. ive posted things that dont get noticed either so dont worry buddy! eventually youll get posts!

Arctic and rb2k1>> thanks for your comments, REALLY appreciated :)

Nik>> I wasn't trying to guilt trp anyone - it just really gets me down that i spend a lot of time and effort, and put loads of hard work into making something that i like and that hopefully others will enjoy too - then no-body even looks at the thread!

makes me feel like giving up, if you don't want to check it out thats fine, i can't force you.

again, many thanks to you other two guys :) glad you enjoyed it.
Mr.Mystery
If you look at the boards you'll see that this week has been particularily bad as everyone seems to be releasing their tracks at the same time and it's hard to keep up. Hence everyone seems to be getting lower amount of replies as well.

Anyways, grabbing the remix now.

Oh, and have you submitted anything to TA's Unite #3 yet? ;)

the only trance things i do are remixes, so it's up to George whether he wants me to submit this remix of his track for the mix.

i don't think my original Halo productions would fit into a trance mix :)
Mr.Mystery
I must say this an interesting mix. When I did my remix it was more or less the same but you've brought a totally new twist to it.

However, I have a few technical issues:
-The bass (or whatever it is) coming in at about 0:30 is too loud/piercing compared to the other mix. It tends to dominate the whole mix
-The whole mix sounds a bit harsh. Some careful tweaking of sound levels and a bit of eq'ing should take care of that.
-The snare used sounds pretty 80's, mostly because of the amount of reverb used.

Otherwise I have nothing to say, really. It's amazing how fast you've come to this level seeing you haven't been producing for very long.

burns
Sound kool but the overall production is just the same as all the other simple trancers flying around, i know that may sound harsh but it just seems things like this have been done a squillion times and theres not a huge amount of skill and creativity placed into them. I guess if you want your music to stand out from the rest you got to take this onboard. Obviously people will disagree with this, as its a quite controversial opinion :(

Quality of production is good. Really thought you were going for a dark production during the first 8 bars, great intro.

Maybee try spending more time on tracks and improve productions skills, i think this is the 4th track ive rated of yours this fortnight, and please dont think im attacking here, im trying to help :)

Kool sound again :) Keep it up, Shame on number of replies, maybee because people have all starting school again.

Sorry for the negative post, but keep it up !

Hmm, the volume/Intensity was intentional, it's supposed to be the dominating factor of the mix along with the percussion, i can see your point that maybe it's a little harsh, and could do with some careful filtering or EQing to get it a bit warmer.

yes!, maybe i should lower some of the upper mids, i think i got a bit carried away :haha:

ummm, you don't like my 80's gated reverb!! blame Digital Blonde and Ferry Corsten - they made me do it *hides* hahah by the way - it's the same snare i used on the remix i did for you ;) (maybe not the same amount of reverb tho)

thanks for you review, i'll look into fixing these problems, but i have lost all of my samples when i was forced to format my drive 2 days ago, i'm currently looking for them all again!!
