I know for a fact it isn't just me, but Armin is probably THE DJ at the moment...can this man be stopped? Not only does he get the latest tunes before ANYBODY else, his Armada record label has stellar releases, not to mention that his productions and remixes as of lately are beginning to have an evolved, more tough, banging slick sound to them.
I have yet to see him live, and I can't wait till that time comes.

Correct me if I'm wrong dJohn, but didn't you some months ago slag Armin off as an anthem-overplaying, boring trance dj?
Anyways, even tho he deserves major props for signing immense tunes nowadays (not one bad tune from Armada so far IMO) and being extremely upfront on promos and whites, I think his livesets have turned so boring lately. He keeps playing the same damn tunes over and over and over, and there is no experimenting whatsoever anymore (like he used to do on ASOT). Last year was much better for him IMO. Hopefully this will change tho,cos I love it when Armin does it well, and he's one of the most down to earth, interactive and friendly djs around. |

Yes yes..that was me, big mouthing off my big mouth again when I shouldn't!

This is why I did though...I did have a perception of Armin being just another DJ who did play anthems and had no set construction whatsoever...to this day, I still have yet to hear a set by Armin that catches my attention. Sorry, but even though I've got mad love for him, I STILL have a doubt of giving him serious credit for experimenting, like you said, and doing something, "new". Obviously he doesn't need to, considering he's been in the ciruit as long as these other DJs, but if you wanna please the fans, you gotta suprise them.
Other than that, I still enjoy his shows because of the new releases and such. I just wish I could see him live with all these new tunes out. |

this was taken from John '00' Fleming web site in his diary section. go ahead and read it and trust me....your views on DJ's spinning the same will deff. change. i used to think the same way untill i seen the big picture. well here it is.......

It just occurred to me the other day while speaking to my buddy Tiesto how hard it is for us DJ's to try and make our sets sound original every week. It's not that we can't find the right records, because we get sent bucket loads through the post every week! It's due to our tracklists being uploaded across many websites and message boards across the World. After years of not having any problems, the power of the internet has caught up with us. There are professional trainspotters out there who actually list every record played (exact times!) when you are performing in a club. Though you may be playing to a different crowd/country from one week to the next, in the back of your mind your trying to include new records into your set because you know that your tracklist will end up on the internet. Sometimes it's hard because you may not get sent many good tunes on a certain week. You may be playing in a totally different country and want to share many of the same records from the previous week to your new crowd. This works well at the actual event, but on paper (computer screen) people say…ahh he's playing a load of the same records?? |

I agree his ASOT episodes have been fairly boring and tedious these past few months, not on par like it was a year ago.
As far as livesets tho, I can see where J00F is coming from. Just because you play certain records one place, I'm sure all the top tunes are wanting to be heard other places as well, so if you match up tracklistings they're going to be similar. Just the way it always has been. |

| I think its because he gets the VERY latest tunes out he's high in everyone's estimation, but as a dj its all about J00F :D |

| Wretched |
| I'm sorry, but the original surpasses the rising star mix about 100 times over. The original is incredibly emotional, while the remix is just run of the mill uplifing trance. |

This is of course very true, and should be taken into consideration every time when evaluating tracklists. Still,I do think that the repetitiveness of certain djs get too much at times. |

| That's great to say, but Tiesto played the same stuff day in a day out for about a year. |

^^^^ no i think you were just listening to the same set every day:haha: Tiesto did not play the same stuff for a year....
Tiesto's sets during the colder months are way more experimental.......its the summer months when he drops alot of uplifting trance sets;) |
