Lol she'll make people drop their martinis if she spins techno...Don't get me wrong I love techno...I spin it myself...That'd actually be pretty hilarious...But it'd get her fired for sure... |
I'll be spinning techno.
It's a casual event, they know I play techno (of all styles - it won't be all bangin but hey, if the crowd wants bangin, I'm not gonna argue :D )and I'm not going to play music I don't enjoy just to suit a crowd.
The upstairs is more of an anything-goes type of venue, and I'll know many of the people there, so techno it is!! |

Yah huh, ok guys, techno sucks, blah blah blah.
I'll see you on the ing dancefloor during my next system set...(whenever that is. All I know is if you're there, you'll be dancing, and then we'll discuss how much techno "sucks.") |

Now thats original!!
I was dancin the whole hour at TA III...the thing I like about techno is the high-speed-train nature of it the hyper-energy, and this i first realized at the picotto event earlier this year. I thought i could dance fast but i just couldn't keep up with this dude...hehe..i was like ' this guy is fast!' ma legs soon began to feel bulky and i had to make my sorry hands work a sweat...it was craazy fun tho :gsmile: |

Fast techno works for everyone though. It is easy to dance to every second beat, if you get what I mean. Hell, just move, who cares what beat you're dancin to! :D |

Hon you're going to play techno at a bar where the clienntele goes to drink martinis after a long day at work? It's not a dance bar. You go there to chill...and Techno isn't chill...
There IS no crowd. So you're not going to know if they want techno or not. Everyone just sits around in comfy chairs smoking and drinking. |
agggggnnnnnnnnn shaattuuppppp! stop being such a whiner, she knows how to dj according to the crowd, otherwise they would have not even given her the opportunity:whip: |

Nothing else needs to be said. UPSTAIRS venue, Sarah knows most of the people there, what's the prob? I went to "Sequel" for a friend's bday and it was some posh upscale club in Yorkville (didn't know what to expect) thought it was goign to be garbage. But I ended up talking to the dj and convincing them to play trance. Point being techno/trance electronic music CAN be played at "posh" places. |

Firstly....techno CAN be chill. Ever heard of, erm, minimal techno?
Anyways, it went really well. I don't remember what time I started playing, but after about a half hour I started going b2b with Amir (owner/DJ) and left to go to Film around 2:30. Had a ing blast....started playing some deeper, slower techno and then when I started going b2b Amir took it up a notch, and we got to playing some harder (but still funky) stuff.
partyprincess, you say you spin techno....but there is more to techno than what is obviously in your frame of reference. Lots of techno suits a martini bar environment....deep, minimal, tech-house, etc. And that's what we played, pretty much, and it went over really well.
So anyways, Amir gave me his card and asked me to email him about coming back to play on Saturdays! Fun!!
The night got way more interesting from there....headed to Film with Deko-ze, which was totally crazy! Watched him spin a ing FAT set from behind the decks til about 5 and then Sydney Blu took over...
ing free red bulls though, I'm still awake witnessing my apartment's first official sketch party. GUH. I never thought that actually kept you awake like this!!! |
