Well, we all know that Israely's new strategy is to deliberately target terrorists and kill them. So far they've killed 11. (since the end of cease-fire)
IMHO that's the best strategy they came up with in the last couple of years.. A question - what took them so long ???? |

its very simple - every targeted killing bring a reaction from the pal" side, and also they hide near schools or other peopl homes most of the time so they wouldnt get hurt,i like the terrorists home demolish tactic more becuse if they dont care about their own body they should care about their families that will live in a tent for the rest of their lives thanx for them being an idiots |

| Although i would love to see these terrorist organizations destroyed, it is very unrealsitic. Martyrdom will be the end result of this strategy, in which tragedy will follow. |

And the circle of violence will continue.
Both sides need to take a serious look at a non-violent strategy of some sort in order to break the cycle.
I find little reason to believe Sharon and Arafat are willing to do so. They both have made their careers through fighting the other side.

trial and error?
nah, keep in mind that up until 2002 the so called Palestinian Authority was in control of the teritories. 2 years of wasted time, broken agreements and many deaths. So first Israel had to bitterly realize that Arafat and his organization are no partner for peace. Afterwards all kinds od methods were tried out to stop terror. From building walls to establishing a new authority and working on several agreements. Its only NOW that Israel sees no more taboos whatsoever in completely ERASING Hamas.
as for cyrus post:
Thats the big myth, dude. people keep saying that those targeted killings will only INCREASE the amount of suicide bombers. The contrary is the truth, proved again and again in the last 3 years. The more Israel withdrew, the more confidence Hamas gained. Every single one sided cease fire was literally blown up (such as the Sbarro/dolphinarium bombings in 2001 or the Pessah massacre in 2002 or the Jerusalem bombing last month). Targetted killings however, especially those which concerned the very "elite" of the organization moved them to sign the "hudna" in the first place and will now ensure that they'll think more than once before sending out brainwashed teens. They're big heros when commanding but as soon as it affects them personally they give up! |

this strategy was used long time ago dude and alot of times those 3 years of "Intifada",
but i guess it never was used so rapidly.,
there was a pause of doing so during the HUDNA, cause thats was a promise from the israeli side...
but after the terrible bombing in Jerusalem the Hudna was over and isral desided to start using this method your talking about again...
Isral kept its promisis during the hudna.... like always, the palestinians do something "stupid" and the violence returns, proove me wrong |

Blaming the problems on Palestinians alone is not surprising coming from an Israeli. |

Cyrus obviously hasn't read the post entitled "TARGETED KILLINGS: ARE THEY EFFECTIVE?"(posted Sept.4th'03), in my ever so popular "Honest Reporting" thread which convieniently has a link below to it!;)

there's no such thing as a contract without fine print. when you get older, you'll quickly learn this. |
