Guys, I using Cbase SX right now. I had a Yamaha CS6X Syth that uses MIDI to control it. well it goes fine.And i had Jomoz Airbase 99 drum machine. uses MIDI to control. i Use my USB MIDI man 2x2 interface to hook it up. MIDI man MIDI IN (A)-> Yamaha MIDI out and Yamaha MIDI In ->MIDI man MIDI Out(A).
One thing i found out is that once i open my Cubase MIDI sequencer. Like MIDI 01, i got the patch everything . my Channel i put to 1. i can control everything.(My Yamaha Syth LOCAL is OFF)
But when i touch on the seond track which is MIDI02, i can see signal BUT i cant hear anything.,
Just like my JOMOX AIrbase99. i Plug MIDIman MIDI out (B) -> JOmoX Airbase99 MIDI IN[ . (First it can read the MIDI , then later part it dun at all) someone i using the virtual keyboard on the cubase to play ard on my drum machine to get the sound rather then using my syth to control. BUT when i go to the Channel and change to channel 10, i saw signal but no sound also.
My Qtn is, is the connection of my Drum machine is wrong? but at first, it can read the MIDI>but not now. And it dun produce the sound on MIDI02 (second track) but i can see signal.
BUT, one thing i found out. when i OFF ALL the thing,(Yamaha CS6X Syth and AIRBASE 99), then i trigger the virtual keyboard on the cubase. I CAN SEE SIGNAL which i dunno where it come from.
I did choose correctly to the Input and Output. But my Output is show as :
MPU-401
CS6x Out-A USB MidiSport 2x2 [Emulated])
Microsoft MIDI Mapper [Emulated]
Out-A USB MidiSport 2x2 [Emulated])
Out-B USB MidiSport 2x2 [Emulated])
Mircosoft GS Wavetable SW Syth [Emulated]

Bare with me becasue I am having trouble understanding exactly what your problem is and how you currently have it set up.
Just to make sure I get this right, you can play and hear the Yamaha CS6x fine, but you can not hear the airbase 99.
In Cubase, it will say what midi channel data is being transmitted on. Your options are "any", 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc up to 16. If channel 2 is selected, then you need to make sure that the machine drum is recieving midi data on channel 2. Have you tried selecting midi channel "any" and seeing if that works. |

sorry for the mess.
ok. first. my yamaha syth i can listen from Channel 1 and ANY. but when i go to second track, third track. which i configuring at the Channel, 2,3,4 etc... only Channe l can receive the MIDI data. when i go to CHANNEL 2,3,4 etc. wat i see was only signal but not sound.
Secondly, i just got my drum machine. my frenz told me to plug MIDI IN to AIRBASE 99. and MIDI OUT from MIDI SPORT 2x2 adn choose Channel 10 on CUbase SX Channel. it works fine when i was at my frenz place. but when i go home and tried out it doesnt work.
At first i follow the setup, i can receive the MIDI DATA and choose channel 10, therefore i saw the DATA transmittin which the MIDI Light is blinking. But I saw signal not the sound.
Then i was doing trial error and plugin here and there, and then i use back the same method as my frenz told me.But It does not receive any data anymore which i find it weird wat had actually happened.
Then i test again by off my AIRBASE99 and YAMAH SYTH power. I click on the MIDI virtual piano and trigger the note in cubase. Weird is i can see signal moving but not the sound and i dunno where the sound comes from.
I know it confusion but the fact that it really happen. Yes i did tried Channel ANY. But its drum on channel 10. Now its stop reciveing the MIDI DATA> i cant do any test. Pls help. thanks |

| Okay, this is going to sound like a stupid question, but is your airbase 99 drum machine plugged into an amplifier? |

nvm its ok. its indeed a stupid qtn till i got the thing done..
i follwo ur way to choose channel ANY. with a few try fianlly i got it done . and forgotten about the cable L/R out to my mixer.
damn iw as so blur!!!

| kkkkk .... 1st.. in your midisport do you have your yamaha pluged into out A and you drum machine in out B or vise versa? If so in cubase you have to select which out you want the signal to go through.. IE.. Midi out USD Midisport OutA for yamaha and USB Midiport out B for your Mbox.. You may have the channels rightthough... |

Make sure all your connections are correct.. Outs > Ins and audio too..
And check the volumes... jejeje I have gotten pissed off many time and fooled around with settings and wires trying to hear somthing then it turns out the volume was all the way down... GRRRR... |

yah i agree. i always had that problem too.. but had to spend alot of time figuring here and there before the stuff get right especially the volume and signal. heh..
anyway thanks for the advice..
so how can i address u??
i currently producing trance for the first time. still struggling of that.. especially the bassline |
