The cash-strapped side has issued a plea on its Web site for fans to stop stealing stray balls during games.
"It often happens that balls that end up in the stands are not given back to the ball boys," the statement says. "Each time a ball disappears in this way the club loses 125 euros ($188 Cdn). Support your club and make sure that all balls are returned. Make your fellow supporters do the same."
Twente, which had severe financial problems in the off-season, currently stands 15th in the 18-team Eredivisie with three points from three matches.
