IME Global support doesn't let me use anything but Microsoft Word

It's a weird problem. I had to type some things in Japanese and downloaded "IME Japanese Support" from Microsoft and I've been having problems since then. Whenever I run Microsoft Word (which runs IME in the background) I can't run any other programme afterwards (no matter whether I close MW or not), unless I restart my computer.
I use windows 98 and Microsoft Word 2000. Anyone got a clue of what it might be? |

| have you tried tawling m/s tech / knoweldge base? sure there's a patch for it somewhere? .. bit of a wierd one though. are your copies of m/s products legit lol? you could have a beta / older version of office meaning that m/s updates / patches like different language support may not work? Aint got a clue. |

My win 98 is original and there's nothing in their database (I'm using Office 2000, by the way, which used to run perfectly).
The problem is quite simple: whenever the support is running, it takes ages for me to change from Winword, for example, to winamp. No messages, no warnings...it's as if word had taken over my computer because of this IME thing and it doesn't let me run anything else.
I'm using ctrl+alt+del quite often now, but if someone's got a smarter solution, I would like to know it :p |

| i think windows have to switch between the japanese and your normal language and maybe that takes ages:conf: |
