Hi there, posting my first question to the world of electro heads and hoping for any advice??

im looking at buying my first mixer, and have decided that the cheapness of the behringer wins for the home studio setup im only getting into at the moment.

however i seem to continue to run into hit and miss reviews and am wondering if there are any specific tips over the new 4 channel djx 700 or the 7 channel dj 1000. The main reason i am considering more channels is i am planning to use the mixer not only for small time party mixing, but also as a recording/producing tool though the computer. Id be plugging in synths, soundcards, speakers, other computers... Not sure if i will actually need all the seven, four might be enough, but wondering if its worth having a few extra just in case?? and if the quality of the two varies at all??

thanks for any help at all peoples.

cheers. :clown:
hey cheggy
My first dj mixer was a behringer. I had to take it back the next morning because the only sounds it made (which were bearly noticable at that) were far from pleasant to the ear. They replaced it with another DX-500, a model that suffered from some shonky circutry and leaking signals. This line of mixer was taken off the shelves not long after. The DX-1000 was in this line. I think they have since changed the name of it to the DJX-1000 or something. I wouldn't go with it myself, but that's because of my experience with behringer dj mixers. The DJX-700 i'm sure is better becuase no doubt Behringer R&D bought a DJM-600, xeroxed it and put it back together.

In any case, niether, in my opinion, would be the best studio mixer for production. It has no send, all the channels are joint stereo, there are no sub/bus channels, eqs are not sweepable, etc. Get the 700 for djing if you're on a budget, but get something better if you want to do serious production. I guess it will do for mucking around.
