To all the Twiloites!!!
View this Thread in Original format

I was just wondering how all you guys feel about what is goin on at SF fridays. Being that the owner of Twilo is gonna run the events on friday and is bringing all the same names there. Mainly to those of you who always bashed the Factory.
djgarfield
I'm not gonna get into this argument about Sound Factory again. We are not bashing Sound Factory. You can't compare two clubs that play completely different types of music. Sound Factory is not a trance club. However, If Twiloboss is really bringing his lineup there, props to SF. The more diverse the music the better. So, fridays Twiloites will overrun the club.

What the hell are U talking bout? The Owners of Twilo: Phil Smith & Twiloboss aren't running Factory Fridays. Alan Sax is bringing diff DJ's to Factory on fridays. Dave Ralph nor Eddie Baez (who sux) were never residents at Twilo.

I will only go to Factory if Johnny Vicious is playing or PVD.

DJGarfield...Twilo wasn't a Trance club either. It more progressive anything.
djgarfield
Well, Twilo did have more progressive artists, but they certainly featured artists that played trance. PVD anyone? Thats more than i can say for SF regular lineup. :p

First of all you guys need to calm down. You people always take this so personally and in the most negative way. Why dont you just try to give your opinion without getting all defensive. You dont own the club you just go(went) there. I was simply asking how you guys felt about that change. And to twilogoddess-Well we'll just have to see wont we. I have heard it for a few weeks now, and my friend also told me a week ago that he even heard it on the radio. So dont tell me im wrong just yet. Where else are some of these names gonna spin in the city if they dont have twilo anymore. Wait and see, alot of acts might end up showing up there. Personally i dont give a who runs it, i just want to see some good dj's. Guess i'll see you at factory twoilogoddess-hahaha!
djgarfield
Listen, the only makin any kind of defensive statements is u(state of trance). U address the thread to those "who bash sf?" Get a grip. U only started this thread because u thought it was ironic that Twilo's lineup was comin to SF. Thats not even the case. Dude, if u really don't care who runs what and really only care about the dj's, then don't bother asking what people think about SF or their lineup. I'll also reiterate that SF was never "bashed." All it came down to was that the clubs play two distinctly different types of music and that the crowd at each club was immensely different. Unfortunately, U SF followers seem to take offense to this obvious difference. People who frequented Twilo long enuff know the feeling of community that went on inside. It was never just about going to the club. U were part of a larger family there. SF never had that vibe.
twilochik
Troo Troo djgarfield...well put. State of Trance....we weren't bashing SF the building...we were commenting on how diff the crowd...musik...rah rah rah and all that stuff is. If PvD was a resident at SF on a friday I would be the first in line b/c I know the party would be different and all the peeps I used to see at Twilo would be there and that would lend a whole new atmosphere to SF. To me its not the club itself it's what goes on inside of it. The vibe..the musik....etc. I like to look at a crowd at 9 am in the morning and see it happy and energized....the crowd I saw at PvD when he would spin at Twilo...as apposed to 10:30 am in SF watching half the crowd too kraked out to dance and the other half so hyped up on hard drugs they would dance to the garbage hard house jp would spin at that time. And I spent a lot of time in SF back in the day so I'm not just going by a one time experience. Sure I have many good memories from SF and I look back on those times and smile...but those memories consist of the times with my friends not the general feelings of the crowd as a whole. But my memories at Twilo span far beyond just chillin with my friends...I remember the crowd...the vibe...the energy....djgarfield is right when you walked into Twilo you were more then just one club kid...you were part of something larger. Its like the crowd would come together for a common cause...that cause being the musik. But I digress...basically my point is that if that vibe found at Twilo was coupled with the regular acts that appeared and could be found somewhere else I would be there in a heartbeat regardless of what name was on the sign outside the club.

First off i would like you to explain to me how i got defensive! I go to clubs and music events for the same reasons you do. Im not even trying to talk for the people at factory. To be honest in my opinion, there ARE too many juice heads there, but you cant say there arent people there who just go for the music. JP is not a bad dj, i dont care what the hell you people say. He has his moments where he mixes the styles a bit too much, but overall you cant say he plays all night. Most of the time the music is pretty good. You were saying that you were part of a family when you go to twilo. Well beleive me or not but i know exactly what you mean. One of the best feelings i get when im out partying like that is that i am part of a lifestyle that most people on this planet dont get to experience, or if they do, its a one time thing, then they go back to there boring lives. I love this , and im not gonna slow down for a long time. Anyway, like i said, there are some idiots at factory, but for the most part, on a normal weekend when the real crowd is there the people are madd cool, there are no fights and all that bull. I get the vibe that we all know we have at least this one thing in common. Im sure it was like that at Twilo as well, probably even to a greater level but the fact is it closed before i could go there again. Yes i did address the thread to those of you who always have something negative to say about factory. What is wrong with that, whats the matter you cant see the irony? I would like to make one more comment before i close up. You guys seem to be pretty sure of yourselves, and that may or may not be a good thing. I love the factory, i would love to go to twilo again, i love goin to other clubs(even bars) to change it up, and i love to go to raves. I like to experience all types of electronic music at all types of venues and events. I cant say that you people have that same way of partying and having fun. And that i can say is bad. If im wrong, im wrong but you have to admit, buy the way you guys post on here you make yourselves look so bad. Its twilo or nothing to you guys. If PVD isnt gonna be there then you dont want to hear about it. That is not my idea of planning fun nights. Plese dont write back with an attitude, i would rather talk about nyc nights with a positive vibe. If you cant do that then i dont want to hear from you.
twilochik
Stateoftrance...I am not just all about Twilo...to me it isn't Twilo or nothing....like I said in my first post that if I could find the same vibe coupled with the same acts ...acts yes as in plural...not just PvD...that I would go to whatever club. And yes I tend to focus in on PvD b/c he is my fav dj. And I only went out for PvD in the past year or so b/c I have other responsibilities in my life which limit my ability to go partying in the city. So when I am only able to go out once in a blue moon I am gonna go out to PvD since he is my fav. And to address your comment about how you like to experience different venues...well I can't speak for others but I've been to Twilo, S.F., Exit and raves and I personally just enjoyed Twilo better. There is nothing wrong with favoring a certain venue...it doesn't make you close minded. It just seems as though you are making a lot of assumptions about kids who used to go to Twilo. You make it sound like Twilo-ites never went anywhere or never wanted to go anywhere besides Twilo which just isn't troo. If I misunderstood your comments please clarify them for me. I hope you don't take this post as being defensive or condescending b/c that isn't how I intended it.
djgarfield
Hmmm.. U seem to misunderstand what i say S.O.T.. I never bashed SF as as "BAD" club. In fact, this all started when SF people started making comparisons w/Twilo and the lineup. I only defended what i love. I've said this before, that the clubs and lineup are different and therefore cannot be compared in the same context. Just because i say "SF doesn't really play trance" is not insinuating that the club sucks. As far as i understood, this is a electronic music lovers site. Now, if u want to argue the merits of house music, i'm sure u can argue for SF. My only point was that u can't compare the two. I'm not gonna name people, but several SF followers have made it a point to try to make this comparison. To me, its only a sign of pure ignorance and disrespect. The clubs are at different ends of the spectrum. Why compare? Anyway, in the end its all about the music and having a good time isn't it? Its when people try to say one club is better than the other that makes me extremely frustrated. All i've ever said about SF was that they don't really play trance and that the vibe was different. I never openly said SF sucked. The only club i've openly bashed was EXIT. Thats because theres way to much sex going on and their sound system sucks. As far as PVD goes, he's a superstar. I'm sure u have your favorites too. PVD only came once every two months. If u missed him then its a four month wait. Hey, if he was here every week, i'm sure i can afford not to go every weekend. For Twlioites, its not about "all or nothing." Alot of us have been in the club scene for years and have frequented all the establishments. That includes SF,Tunnel, Limelight, Twilo, Vinyl, and even Exit. We make all the rounds. I don't think we make ourselves look bad. As far as i know none of the twiloites have started a thread about twilo being superior. Our answers in defending twilo have only been to people who make it a point to bash it or compare it. Shouldn't we defend the club we love? If say u love SF then more power to u. I'm not gonna say anything negative. Just don't say SF is better or that they play trance or JP is the best "trance Dj." These statements are untrue. I will take every oppurtunity to point it out because its simply wrong. I like to keep a positive vibe as well.Just don't go singling people out and make assumptions about everyone. If i started a thread "to all you Sf followers that always bashed Twilo" don't u think that would warrant a response from the SF followers? Like i said, in the end its all about the music and the vibe. So lets keep it positive and the lets end this thread.

StaTeOfTrAnCe
OK i agree. But first let me say that i agree with you. I hear everything you are saying and im glad it got cleared up. But just know i never defended factory as a trance spot. You should know that, if u can show me a post where i said that then i will appologize. But i know i never said that. Maybe i just got the wrong idea from what you guys were writing. Anyway, thats enough of this, by the way, where do you guys go to party now? Purely curiosity, im always looking for new events. Especially since we all love trance so much here. I dont know how you feel about him but Christopher Lawerence ripped it last night at "One Nation". That was some of the best trance i heard in a while, so much energy! I dont know what type of trance you are into but for me, its the more energy the better.
Twilogoddess
A State of Trance, I coped an attitude b/c ur are misinformed & spreading rumours. The owners of Twilo have NOTHING to do w/the Friday Lineup at Factory. Mike Bindra, Twilo's manager booked all the DJs at Twilo...not Phil Smith or Steve C (Twiloboss). All that was said on the radio was that everything from Twilo was on ebay. :(

Twilo was my home for the past 4 years. Everything was incredible, the system, line up, vibe, lights. Nothing will ever come to Twilo in NYC. Now I follow a good DJ wherever. Beggars can't be choosers. If Paul plays at Tunnel, I'm there.
