How do you TAs do it?

I've seen the scene from the outside looking in for too long I think... personally.
Maybe since around 3 years ago I started listening to this genre of music and have taken up djing a month ago, but i still have the problem of not being able to keep up to date on the latest quality underground releases as like nearly everyone here on trance.
With not even a full year of listening to house, it's been easier to get info and hear new track releases then it has been for trance.
I noticed so many of you TA's over here know so much about the scene and whats going to happen/whats quality.
How do you do it?
It can't be just going out. Is it word of mouth, chart scouring, visit the record store each day and ask of new news happenings of releases? etc...
Is there some way to be in the know a bit better...?
I know alot of the methods... what do you dudes do?

Listen to lots of sets and get on record store mailing lists. :D

heh... it seems so simple the way you put it.
Guess I'd better make room for more sets... or just delete all the old ones...:( :).
where do you listen/get your sets from generally?

try juno records....http://www.juno.co.uk subscribe to it. They have all the genres and old/newest releases. Keeps me pretty updated.

And the good thing about most online record stores is that they have samples for you to preview the tracks - so you could be browsing the website one day, see a producer that you've never heard of before in your entire life, quickly download and listen to the sample, and could possibly discover something you like! ;)

Taking a look at tracklists helps alot if you know the artist and typically enjoy their material. To do this though, you have to have pretty good background knowledge on the scene.

As for sets, they're widely available from websites, file sharing programs or you can listen to them live on the net.

I think just looking at tracklists and being on here helps tremendously with awareness.

I've talked to people who like trance, and they have no idea about tracks I'm talking about after they've been pretty well cained for a few months. You never really stop to think how far behind you'd be without ta, I remember I had no clue on releases before I got on here.
