The other day I was looking on discogs.com, checked the entry for Energy 52 (Cafe Del Mar), and i was quite surprised to see the 'appearances' section like 3 pages long.
Now yeah its a hell cheesey tune, over played and people still go nuts when it gets played out, but it got me thinking - what is the most used trance tune ever? I thought maybe for an angel, but honestly im not sure?
So what do you lot reckon? |

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Cafe Del mar to be the most remixed trance tack out there isn't it?
And it thus got to cross over into the many sub-genres in club culture.
For an Angel didnt have an 'ambient chillout' mix or breaks mix or summat, so it only got played to the more dancier trance crowd?
mebbe thats the reason |

Dude, Cafe Del Mar is a classic. It is true that the track has been remixed a billion times, but so many of those remixes have turned out to be so great. 3 and 1 remix = awesome, marco v remix = awesome, john '00' fleming remix = awesome, and original (of course) = awesome. Also, I dont understand whats cheesy about it. The construction of the track, for the time that it was created in, is outstanding. Not your basic track at all, very different for the time period.
Da Rude - Sandstorm is the most used 'trance' track imo. |

Any single bar or club I go to the DJ always has For An Angel and Rank 1's Awakening in his box.
I've never spent an evening in a club (apart from "real" trance parties) without hearing these two tunes. |

Well, Ashtrax made a breakz remix of For An Angel (Ashtrax Fallen Remix) but it's much deeper of its atmosphere than E-Werk Club Mix is. Chillout Mix would be great! |

dont misunderstand me.... cheese != crap. Sometimes it does sure, but not always. I happen to really like the tune - the fact that it gets over played and is a tad cliche with 'hands in the air/im so ed' moments is what makes it so cheesy, but lets be honest, the reason we like it is because it gives rise to those sorts of moments ;)
I also didnt ask what the most remixed track was, just the most used... cafe del mar has lots of remixes but im more interest in the fact its on every second dance comp ever relaeased :P |

Best For an Angel =
(4/13/01 or 13/4/01 depending how you look at it)
Last appearance of PvD at Twilo b4 closing. After I believe 2 encores, the crowd wa still waiting and cheering with all the lights on. Paul just stood there with a silly grin on his face, then lifted the sleeve for For an Angel. After people went nutz he played it, then put it back in the sleeve and threw it to the crowd. That was the last song I ever heard at Twilo and frankly after that I am glad I don't here people play it. Again, that is for Boston. |
