Is it just me or is there a real shortage of quality techno releases at present.

this time last year i was buying on average 6 records a week, but i just bought my first real record hall for a couple of months last week (9records:rolleyes: ) and realised i only like three of the record there.

whats going on.

There is not a shortage just you don't look carefully...actually some labels have taken breaks...intec...axis.

Soma has some new techno releases slated for very soon. I hear a new percy x 12" is on the way. This stuff is just nasty and brutal...

to be honest you have given me three labels which i don't rate that highly anyway.

i'm talking about people like sven vath, glenn wilson, danillo vigorito etc.

theres hardly been one decent production this year from there likes.

have a look at http://editrecordings.com
there's some info about a few new releases and links to some quality techno labels...

I understand your point...overall I'd say no. Considering a few individual artists I'd say yes. Wilson, Vigorito, Franssen, to name a few have created nothing but rubbish. They can and will do better. I think the number of quality releases hasn't diminished, the trashload has increased. In fact I've started to listen and buy more trance now because of that.

Main positives 2003 imho: productions of DJ Rush (most of them are good, sets still suck though), Liebing's album (same thing for Kowalski), Hardcell & Grindvik, Marco Bailey (productionwise), Misjah, Adam Beyer (productions AND sets), Henrik B, Joel Mull.

Main negatives 2003 imho: Wilson, Vigorito, Franssen, Skoog, The Advent, Mhonolink and all the 'tekkno'- stuff...

oh yeah and I think Ferry Corsten is doing great combining techno and trance...I'm not sure whether he does that often, but the few sets I have from 2003 combine quality trance with a few technobombs such as Drumfiles 3.0 and Shock Ralley.

my 2 cents..

How can you like techno and not like percy x?

you really need to search out those beauties in techno today, they are hard to find. however i beleive the future is a promising one for techno. with producers like max walder, renato cohen, and biazzi on the duties, its certianly lookin good.
lupp is a top notch techno label

Hate to break it to you, a)your opinion does not matter and b)Percy X is a genius, especially his 1998 release which i forget the name.
