This is on the back of a European vinyl cover:

"Unauthorised copying, hiring, lending, public perfomance of this record prohibited."
paranoik0
not talking about RIAA, just talking about illegality:

- it is illegal to record radio streams, or to copy them

- it is illegal to copy/record singles avaiable only on vinyl or not, as long as they are copyrighted. livesets consist normally of a few copyrighted singles mixed together.

- it is even more illegal to make profit of it!

and if you want livesets, there is an easier way than trying to buy them from people. direct connect.

You`re obviously missing a point: Even if what you say is true, how can you be sure that it`s true for the whole world? This is an international forum and what might be legal in one country doesn`t have to be legal in another country.

International treaties (see Berne Union and the Universal Copyright Convention) which many countries sign to uphold a minimal standard of copyright protection for all countries involved. e.g. overseas work in the US is protected by US copyright law etc.

Copyright law is pretty universal. There are always exceptions but clearly the creator of this thread posted a load of crap.

This is true however one country's organizations might not be as willing or able to prosecute violators of these laws as another countries.

Agreed. But people here are not talking about the probabilities of being prosecuted...people are just making uneducated statements like "There is nothing illegal about acquiring or burning live sets to CD" with no qualifications. Just because its unlikely you will be prosecuted doesn't make it legal.

I wouldn't want my name attached to such a moronic post stored in the archives...

Interestingly though the U.S. District Court in Washington is approving federal subpoenas at a rate of over 75 per day in an effort to obtain personal information that the RIAA will use to file civil lawsuits.
Blik
it is illegal to record sets, it is illegal to share sets

it is illegal to burn sets on CD and sell them to other people

and you should PM'ed the guy instead of this message

:whip:

gonna leave this open untill wicked neo sees it, then he can close this topic
doof doofer

this guy has openly called lots of people morons for not having a clue, when in actual fact the real moron is himself. it is u that really doesnt no what ur talking about, and not that ud care but uve probably lost the respect of most TA's now. so well done to u. now run along.

this has nothing to do with copywrite laws or international copywrite laws...the admin of the boards don't want people to talk about it so you don't talk about it. if you do keep talking about it without showing some amount of respect for the rules then you should be banned from the boards...
