| i've always been the kinda person who starts at the beginning and tries to let the song grow into itself. i always kinda thought that if i started with a melody first the rest of the song would just kinda be filler. i don't know i'll have to try to start with a melody first sometime hehehe... |

I always start from the beginning to its just that you have to have a melody or lead either ready or in your head
or then again you could play with a bunch of sounds percussion and bass til you got something that stands out in your imagination but that could take a while
this is why I always start from the begining with a lead and melody and i have my bass percussion, stabs,fx as my foundation background etc

I usually get super stoned, and come up with wierd , like melody and bass.
then when i'm sober, i fix edit what i came up with, and add drums, and the rest. |

create how you want to create! there is no right way to compose, arrange and produce a song.
do what you feel. thats what i do

I Start main lead / melody
Kick drum to master the track into compression,
backing (bass, strings etc.),
percussion (HiHats, Claps etc.),
any other faffy fart bits like swooshes blah blah blah etc.

Geeze, sounds like y'all are reading some type of manual on how to be inspired... I don't really understand the mindset.
It's not surgeory to me. I usually always have a beat going on. I get inspired, do a melody, do a beat to go with it, get pissed, scratch the melody and have something to work with next time I get inspired.
I can understand how commercial producers (commercials, movies, websites and so on) can say they start in a certain way, as I've done it before, but for those who just want to lay down a track for the fun of it..."well, first I do this, then that...hmm no I should have done that first." Naw, just don't get it.
I've even read commercial producers telling others to just frikkin lay back and let it come to them rather than forcing it down.
Maybe you guys have a certain idea or mood you want to portray with your music and go about that formulaically? I can see that. |

usually i always start with the main lead, after that, depending on that lead i start making second, third leads and strings and basslines,, then i start building percussion (kicks, hats, crash, etc etc..), then i play with the effects and thats it...
but everything start thanx to the main lead. |

Totally agree dude! Sometimes when im tooo mashed the computer starts confusing me, and im not entirely sure whats going on....!
Its times like these that your 'BED' is sometimes better than 'COMPOSING'.
