Im probably the youngest DJ here(13 next month), and im wondering, how much would a turntable cost me? Ive only got about $100 to spend on DJing equipment, so i need to know how much more ill have to save up to get a good turntable. Thanks.

And yes, im just your average bedroom DJ... that uses a computer.

They can range from $100.00 to about $500.00

You should save about $500.00 and just get a Dj Package.
Kamikaze Badger
Ok, thanks for the advice. What does a Dj package usually include though?

Sorry about the one liner post.

2 turntables and a mixer usually.

I woudl say keep saving and saving cause you also need to start buying vinyls. That is the cost that will get you.

make sure to check out Recess, tells you EVERYTHINg every beginner DJ needs to know, including what decks to buy, where to buy them from etc. it's at http://www.recess.co.uk/

Even when you do get your decks and such Recess can help you with beatmatching etc. even what to bring with you to gigs!

lemme break it down for you . . .

A direct-drive turntable is gonna cost at least $150, up to $500 if you want to get something quality.

Most of the better-quality decks need cartridges, which range from $30-150 apiece.

You'll also need a mixer, what kind depends on what kind of music you plan to spin. Expect at least about $200.

To hear the music and actually mix, you'll need a pair of headphones, ranging from $30-150, depending on quality.

But again, Boomer is right, its the vinyls that end up costing a ton, cuz you keep buying them and they add up quickly, figure $10 apiece if you buy them new.

So there's a basic cost overview, look around for deals on ebay, and save some cash so you can get quality stuff.

PM or email me if you have any questions. Hope I helped.

Well, i did some googling, and i found a $400 DJ pack here. would it be worth the amount of money? Theres a small choice there, heres their DJ pack section. refer me to whatever would be best if you could, please.

Kamikaze, pm DJ Tranz, he can get you a better deal on that package. Check out DJ Mart.. you might see something better.

Or you can do what I did, and buy everything piece by piece. I have 2 Tech SL-1210 turntables and a cheap Behringer mixer to get me started. Costed me $650. Although the turntables are used, they work like new.

nope, i actully started DJing(with real gear) a month before i turned 13...

anyway, i wish id have gone the "nice tables, bad mixer" route. when you start gettin good, youll really wish you had better tables. i have 2 numark tt-100s, and a dm-3001x (also by numark), and i really wish i'd gotten better tables and skimped on the mixer.

also, you might want to look into numark tt-200s... ive heard there ok, and at the same price as the original 100s($200 a piece), but with better torque.

The TT-200 are good tables, when I first first was getting into buying equipment, those were the tables I was looking into getting cause I didnt want to spend alot of cash. But Im not the kind of person to buy half assed stuff, unless I know I can replace it easily. So instead I saved and got Techs. In November I'm gonna be buying this:

Crown XLS 602 Power Amp
Alesis M1 MK2 Reference monitors
Aphex 204 Sound Enhancer
Pioneer HDJ-1000 headphones

and hopefully for my birthday in December...
Allen & Heath Xone:62 or Tascam X-9 Mixers
