Need headphone advice

I have read a couple of threads here concerning headphones. I needed to buy new headphones, because the ones I had before sucked pretty bad. But anyway, I ended up going to a store and bought the Sony mdrv700's. I was really looking for the sennheiser HD25, but no local shop over here is south florida carries them (they have to special order the sennheisers). Therefore, I can't listen to them and compare them to the sony's.
According to this forum, you guys who have used both say that the sennheisers are better. But are they that much better? I got a deal with the sony's, as I had the store price match, so I paid $104.00 for them. I know that they go for 119-129 bucks usually. I probably can get the sennheiser's for 179.99 (new not refurbished).
I have two questions: Are the sony mdrv700dj headphones rugged, will they last?? Are the sennheiser HD25's that much better than the sony's? Are they more rugged than the sony's? Do you think I should stay with the sony's considering the price at which I bought them for? One thing I think the sony's lag in is the highs. I can still return the headset if I am not satisfied, so I want to hear it from the DJs who have used both. One thing----I can care less what looks better,,, I just want better quality and something that will last me for a long time to come. Remember though, I cannot sample the sennheiser's, so I will take your guys word on this. Any advice is appreciated. |

| Sennheiser HD25 will be the absolutely last pair of headphones you'll ever buy. Every part is user replacable, so even if something happens to bust you'll be able to fix it yourself. The construction is very simple and straightforward so there isn't a lot to bust in the first place. Sound quality is about three classes better than the MDR 700, with a very precise, defined sound (unlike MDR700 which are unpleasently boomy in the lower frequencies). I own a pair of 25s myself and wouldn't even consider getting the MDR700s. |

| I noticed on Sennheiser's website that you can buy the refurbished models for $180. Since we all aren't blessed with the headphone hookups does anybody know if these are any good? I hear good things about the company and their support so I'd assume these would be a good deal. I'm looking seriously into purchasing some equipment this summer and getting my feet wet, wish me luck! |

You cant even compare them... the Sennheiser is much much much better!
The only thing you can compare to the HD-25 is the Technics RP-DJ1200, those two are the best hp's in the world!!! |

| I for one don't care for the sennheisers, when I'm spinning in a club, I'd much rather have the MDR-7000's, alot more flexible, and the bass is much better...In terms of durability, I think it's pretty equal. |

So I am assuming that you have both headphones. I'm already getting used to the sony's. They kick ass!. They seem pretty good for loud environments, as they block out noise. I do notice the nice bass kick, so I do see your point about that in a club, with the extra bass kick and sound isolation, they could help you cue better. The only downside (maybe because they are new and not broken in) is that they are a bit uncomfortable after three hours. They smush that out of my ears, but I think it could be that they are not broken in.
I think I'm gonna keep them, considering I only paid $104 bucks for them. At this point, I am pretty satisfied.

Yeah, I've tried both, for djing, hands down the sony's... If they aren't strictly djing headphones, and you just use them to listen to alot of music, the sennheisers would be the way to go...
The MDR's are quite uncomfortable before you break 'em in...they get better, I like them cuz they bend and twist so I can use one on my shoulder for a while without worrying about bending or breaking anything. :) |

I've used many headphones, and I tried my roommate's MDV-R700DJ's and I rushed to order my own. Those headphones are the shiznit.

| Im using my Sony MDR-700's to listen to the music on my computer as I write this. Im VERY satisfied with the Sony's. I've used lots of diffrent headphones while mixing and in my opinion the 700's have been the best. |
