Best analog to digital (S/PDIF) converter?

| I'm thinking of getting a second hardware synth and in order to run two synths on my Audiophile 2496, one is going to have to be inputed in S/PDIF format (I don't really want to fork out extra money for a new soundcard). Anyone know what is a good analog to digital converter? I probably don't want to spend much more than US$50 on it. |

| Why don't you just get a cheap little mixer. One of those little behringer POS's should do you fine. |

Yah, I thought about that, but is buying a cheap mixer likely to wreck the sound quality? |
