I was at Amnesia that night as well.PvD (and Amnesia) were amazing as usual. It was pretty funny watching Jan Johnston dancing and twirling around like a maniac :D .Only lame thing was them forcing him to stop playing at 7am and then turfing everybody out of the club.I agree with your main point but I do love the occasoinal classic i have to admit. |
Yeah it was wicked night, I didn't think much of Tiesto's set but PVD kicked ass! He looked VERY pissed off when they turned the equipment off in Nothing but You. It was well out of order. Jan Johnson was going mental I think she wanted to sing but there was no mic, hardly anyone recognised her either! It was all very funny til she started blowing kisses at my boyfriend...
It took about 15 minutes to actually get out of the club coz it was so rammed - the people that were mooing were cracking me up!
Tiesto played a fair few classics that night if I remember rightly - it seems like a bit of a cop out when your 'the worlds no.1 DJ!'

| my personal feeling on classics is that djs play the *same* classics over and over. there are hundreds of classic trance tunes yet djs play the same all the time. why not play bedrock - heaven scent? hasn't been played in years. vimana - we came? push - universal nation? or how bout lesser known classics. tracks that only a particular dj played the hell out of. second sun - empire? pvd hadn't played that in over a year and a half until like a month ago when he was in central park. yahel - voyage. i know we all used to go bonkers when tijs played that. and i'm not saying they should put those songs in all of their sets. just every now and then, throw in something old. personally when i go to a club, i like to hear 75% of tracks i know and 25% tracks i don't. leave the big unknown ID sets for large events. :toothless |

couldn't agree more. i mean...if dj's just mixed up the classics that they play, there wouldn't be any issue here... |

True and I have only heard him play it twice and thats in the last 4 months. I love it to bits and this is what Im talking about. If people start playing it loads and loads its gonna stop being such an amazing experience when you do hear it. I was shocked he played it I didn't expect it! :wtf: |

| I'd rather hear kick-ass classics than over-played mediocre new songs (like ATRC/Dirty Sticky floors/Red pill blue pill). |

There will always be people new to the scene that haven't heard a particular classic live -- combined with the right environment, that experience is unforgettable for most classics.
Just so long as you don't hammer them until dead ;) |
