Hey guys, a mate of mine is currently searching around for speakers to use as monitors for his home setup, but also to use to take to house parties every now and then.
The specs he's after are no less than 300watts, active preferred but not essential and no more than $1000AUD (roughly $650USD, £400GBP) for each speaker!
thanks :) |

Well from what I know, he wont find monitors that go that loud.
But if he wants power, and has $650 USD to spend, heres my suggestion.
JBL Sound Factor Series SF12M 12" Inch Two-Way Monitor Speaker ($279 USD each)
or
JBL Sound Factor Series SF15 15" Inch Two Way Speaker ($299 USD each)
Power Capacity: 1-250 watts
Peak Power Capacity: 1-1000 watts
They both have pretty much the same spec's just one is obviously smaller.
If your friend gets 2 of these, he should be set.
If your friend is convinced to get monitors, than the best ones he can get for that price are the M-Audio BX8 Studio Reference Monitor ($478.95 USD for the pair) - but they arent loud.
Talk to DJ Tranz, maybe he can knock alittle off the price of these from djmart.com |

Dude, Im just letting you know that monitors are not loud. They are intentionally not loud because they are meant for studio use - not for parties. If your friend wants some loud speakers he can check these out:
JBL Sound Factor Series SF25 Dual 15" Inch Two Way Speaker ($399.99 USD)
Power Capacity:1 500 watts
Peak Power Capacity:1 2000 watts
Get 2 of those, and you will blow the roof off the house. MAKE SURE YOU GOT SOME GOOD AMPS! |

Yea, Mackie speakers tend to be pricey, but the quality is superb |

yep mackie's are great, havent had a single problem/complaint yet!
anyway back to the topic, the speakers he has been looking at are the Behringer B300's.. http://www.behringer.com/02_product...d=B300&lang=eng
anyone have these or heard anything about them? apparently someone told him there was a problem with 'popping' ... |

| How do you compare JBL to Behringer... JBL is top of the line when it comes to banging speakers. |

im not :)
not upto me, just trying to help him out.. those are the ones he's been shown in local stores.. i mentioned those jbl's but no one seems to stock them here.
he is also put off by the fact that he would need to buy a fairly expensive amp to run those jbl's whereas the behringers are a bit cheaper and active.. |
