But hey....each to their own... ;) |
I see your point, but hopefully you can see the distinction i was trying to make in my other post :)

Ya go away for a day and look what happens!!!
Just wanted to comment on a couple of things said so far...
Yes, I'm gay. No, I'm not without a sense of humour. And I'm not defintiely not a politcally correct kinda guy...
In my post, I didn't say I was looking to start a gay group, BTW... You'll notice I said "gay or people who are cool with the whole gay thing."
The intent was to find gay and/or gay positive TAs to hang out with sometime - people who would accept me (and my friends) for who I am without judgement, etc. I don't pretend that everyone is cool with gay people. To be honest, most of the time, I don't care how people think. But if I'm looking for friends, they pretty much gotta accept me for who I am. (and I certainly wouldn't want to be responsible for making DJ Moonshine sick, LOL).
I think the fact that some people on here have strong opinions about the post does prove my point. I'm not going to reply to anyone's specific comments, but suffice it to say I find it interesting that people who aren't gay (or even gay positive) feel it necessary to even comment on the post. I mean, it's not as if this has anything to do with you... unless it is a homophobic reaction. (and before anyone gets pissed at that, imagine the response you'd get if you said "first the black people wanted us to treat them white..." and I think you get my drift.).
Ask yourself this: If you aren't interested in the "Car Stereo for Sale" post, you probably don't reply to it. Why did you feel it necessary to reply to this one.
The truth is, I have met a lot of great TAs, and have become friends with a few of them. In a lot of these cases, I met these people off my last Gay TA post, either through the message board or in person when they saw me at some event. It's been pretty cool, because these TAs fall into the "gay positive" description, and have never made my being gay an issue.
I wish it was always the case, but unfortunately it isn't. That's why I posted the message in the first place.
Peace |

Sorry chrismack it's more a political irk I have more than a personal one against you or any gay TAs.
I'm not homophobic, I've had gays friends/associates before and they were all pretty cool (funny in fact).
I guess I was just havin' a rough day... (a 16 hr day will do that); not that I'm trying to (if you'll pardon the pun) "cover my ass" with my replies. ;)
I guess I'm just one that sees people more than they see themselves sometimes.
Noone needs to hide behind a minority status with me because in my books... YOUZ ALL GOOD!
Hope that kinda clears things up.
I look forward to meetin' yea... and dance on!
:tongue2 |

Hey Fir3start3r:
Your point is well taken. The ironic thing is that I am totally against the whole segregation thing myself (I very rarely go to gay bars, for example, cuz I prefer a mixed crowd). My gay friends usually get pissed that I won't do the gay thing with them more often.
It's more about meeting people ya feel comfortable around, that way you can just relax and enjoy the music... and be yourself.
Cheers

Barbies... sheeeesh.
You obviously have a lot to learn. |

hahahahaha..i just noticed this now.
i'd just like to ask all the ugly ppl to please please NOT make out w/ your partner in front on me b/c it makes me very ill. if you are gay/straight/bi and you and your partner are hot, that's ok..but if you are ugly please please know, that I may never be able to make out w/ anyone ever again.

^^^ LOL Diginut
Chris! I think you know I feel close to the same way you do about the gay "scene" here...I'd be down with meeting a few like-minded homos :toocool:
And yeah...it's not about "segregation"...or about beaking up a larger group...of course it doesn't matter if you're gay, straight, bi, whatever...cool people are cool people, regardless!
But, for me anyway, and I suspect for others, it's hard to find other gay guys/girls that like similar music, clubs, etc. especially when one is not "obviously" gay.
Think about it...I personally would rather not meet guys (or girls for that matter) that like to go to crappy gay clubs, hang out in the gaybourhood all the time, etc. if I could hang with people that would rather hit Guv't on a Saturday night than 5ive ;) Just like str8 guys don't want to hit some cheese dance club and meet a girl who listens to Top 40 b.s...but you guys have the advantage of being able to assume that 99% of the people at a party at straight...
food for thought? |
