yesterday night,
i heard a noise...
i carefully slipped outta my bed and moved out of my room while the noise was getting louder.
it was DEFINATLY coming from the kitchen a i moved forward.
the corridor seemed to never come to an end, and i would swear i was walking for a good 5 minutes.
once i reached the kitchen my hertbeat got a good burst and loads of light invaded my eyes....
but among all the light i could see a shine coming out of my kitchen table, very intence like a fire and i voice was whispering something out of this chaos(or around ther i guessed...) something.....
closer i was getting , less the whisper seemed loud
...........
and suddenly i heard 4 clear words.
everything around kindda sttoped
those letters periodically flashed by my conscience to come togheter and unite into a one simple sentence : you....are .....a.....DJ
and in a matter of a second i was on the kitchen table jumping like a freak, with sony headphone on my head, beatmatching beats of hell, tomatoes were flying and milk was pooring everywhere....
this is how ended my dream.
im a person that beleves in sings, and after a lot of thinking a came to the conclusion :
I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO START. INVEST WHATEVER IT TAKES TO FOLLOW THE PATH THAT MY CONSCIENCE SHOWED ME.
TO ALL THE DREAMERS out ther .: help
(im talking about dreamers that know how and where to start)

Yey flying tomatoes!!
While my Dj-related dreams have been wildly different compared to yours, it's always inspiring when your subconscience speaks to you like that—no matter how many tomatoes fly.
As for your request for help getting started, just use the search button :p It's a question that's been asked many times here by people with varying budgets.
As almost everyone usually says in response:
• If you're talking about starting fresh with everything, I suggest reading http://www.recess.co.uk/start.html.
• If you're talking about buying equipment, it all depends on how much you're willing to spend. :) |

How to start:
1)You buy 2 Turntables. Witch ones?
High budget = High quality: Technics SL1200 MK2's or Numark TTX1
Extreme high budget: Technics SL1200 MK5's
Medium high budget: Technics SL1200 M3D's
Medium budget: Stanton ST100
Lower medium budget: PDT6000 from Gemini or Stanton ST90
Low budget(I don't recommend you get one of these): Gemini XL500, stanton STR80.
2)You get yourself a mixer.
behringer's VMX300 is a good low medium budget with an excellent price/quality rate. If does not have effects like the DJX700 witch is like 40$ more or something(not sure bout that).
If you want the real thing, get a pioneer DJM600
VERY nite dream by the way :p |

If your dreams are making you as serious as you seem, then you should know that $800 Canadian is NO WAY IN HELL enough to get a decent setup. I just managed to save up enough to buy a pair of Technics 1210 M5Gs, and a Behringer VMX300 mixer, with Sennheiser HD280 headphones and 2 Shure sc35c carts. I already have 2 amp/receivers and 4 speakers (2 monitors and 2 huge full-range passives).
SAVE UP!!! and you won't be disappointed!!! |
