| Kind of a weird staement let me explain. I just got reason 2.5 not only is it hard but i cant even get a damn melody goin. My question is does nething like piano lessons help when producing music? Also should I got learn this skill before starting? One more question should I think about starting off with another program? Ive never even attempted nething like this before, thanx in advance. |

| Reason is pretty simple to understand once you've got the basics. Just try out some tutorials on it and get started. tis so confusing and hard at the beginning but the farther you get into it, the easier and more fun it becomes! :D |

| Knowing how to play the piano will definitely help you come up with melodies and whatnot, but don't know how much it'll help you actually get started producing. |

Playing piano would be helpfull. Having any kind of musical background would be helpful, especially in turning melodies in your head into actual melodies. But its not a requirement to making trance.
As for Reason, its pretty simple in comparison to other software. Just spend some time getting an understanding of what everything does. Have you read the manual yet? |

| First off thanx for the info from u guys, my internet was down so I wasnt able to reply. Secondly My Acrobat reader is kind of acting funny so I was able to read the manual but Im gonna purchase the cd-rom and book tutorials. Its actually kind of encouraging to see that all it needs is a little understanding, because the prgram is kind of overwhelming in a sense, especially to a beginnger. |

I don't know about music theory, never played an instrument in my life, yet I can do music just fine.
Sure, it took me a while to be able to do something decent but it was worth it. The main thing is to not give up no matter how frustrating it might get. |

Reason is an awesome software but with a preset bank for the substractor and presets for the malestorm so its hard for people that just started producing to work with it , the sample bank is great!, so thats why i went using FL again, but now someone is teaching me how to make nice sounds with reason :D
As for Melodies, i couldn't make them, but one day i asked mk-s for his midi for silverglow, which i remixed, and i can tell you its because of this midi, i am making mine melodies now :)(i dont have a midi keyboard nor i play piano)
I say you can learn alot from MIDI's also. |
