I'm in need of a quality sound card, suggestions?

When I record my mixes they turn out to sound very "flat". What I mean is when I listen to my mix on my computer, I can barely hear the mids. Which is a pain in the ass since I spin a lot of melodic trance and the melody sounds very very quiet. So i've been searching the forums and i've come to the conclusion that I need a new sound card. The one I have no is a Riptide.

If anyone could suggest some good sound cards and where I can find some on the net, it would bea greatly appreciated :)

Many thanks, Jordan

check out M-Audio.

if you are on a tight budget, check out the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 for $120.00US

otherwise look into their prosumer cards like the Audiophile 2496 ($200.00US) or any of the delta series (i personally own a delta 44 and its great).

How does the Sounblaster Audigy series compare to these

audigy is more of a gaming card...it has pretty good sound but if youre planning to record, it does the job but not like the m-audio does. i have both of them and the m-audio is only used for recording... the sound of my recordings at 24/96 are....extremely smooth. thats the only way i can put it. very smooth and refined and accurate.

the audigy is a nice card but not very durable. the outputs on the back of the card are mini stereo jackso so with a large amount of wires and adaptors, the jacks on the back of the card get worn out pretty fast. now they are all loose and sometimes i have to move them around to get allt he channels to work.

the configuration options of the audigy are nice though. i have the .1 channel going to the sub and the audigy software controls all the levels and everything easily.
