[01:33] bananna
[01:33] no seeds
[01:34] in its current form
[01:34] hmm
[01:34] they are saying that they could go extinct
[01:34] interesting
[01:34] because over the years they have been bred like
[01:34] to have no seeds
[01:34] so they are all grown from cuttings now
[01:34] so a disease could kill them all
[01:35] then no more bananas

interesting insight into ukta chat things... but really, is it fruit or veg ?

and im not making a poll cos coup will it up :stongue: :stongue:
joeh

actually, the banana is the worlds largest berry, and thus is a fruit.
DrummeRaver86
If it has seedsm it's a fruit.

banana's grow on trees; therefore they are fruit.

Bananas are actually herbs. :D

Well, both a herb and a fruit according to this:

quote:
Is a banana a fruit or a herb?

Both. A banana (the yellow thing you peel and eat) is undoubtedly a fruit (containing the seeds of the plant: see answer regarding tomatoes), though since commercially grown banana plants are sterile, the seeds are reduced to little specks. However, the banana plant, though it is called a 'banana-tree' in popular usage, is technically regarded as a herbaceous plant (or `herb'), not a tree, because the stem does not contain true woody tissue.

Well, have you ever thought of the implications a worldwide banana epidemic would have on third world countries? Many banana republics have bananas as one of their primary exports. Already the best variety of a banana has been extinguished in the 50s by an epidemic. Imagine what would happen if that situation were to repeat itself. This would be a lethal blow to the already impoverished south. The whole global economy could plunge into chaos. Not to mention that poverty often sprouts terrorism and agression. We could be looking at another 9/11 here!
