That's the worst thing that could have happened to Tiesto.

I'm sorry but these guys spin completely different kinds of music... let's not mix them together, please...

I could tell you exactly what I think of Oakenfold, but this is another subject and plus I don't want to offend anyone... :)

I think he's lost some steam since 1999 (his Energy 2000 set i think is the best set EVER), but still my favorite DJ. live @ club eau set is a great one, and i still can't believe he dropped sound of nature in there, what a great track.

Spit it out, Eugene, I'm not going to run to my mommy! ;o)

As for Muse track, good lord, who the [beep] can stand the male vocals in it? It's horrid enough I really RUN to my mommy!!

As for Tiesto's current selection and style, I have no comment. If he played his sets over here, the opinions would be quite the contrary to some of your objections.

were all basically going on that revolution mix and magik 7, revolution mix was for europe only if im not mistaken and no wonder magik 7 shares some similarities its just with the internet were picking them, im sure this was the case with other recordings hes done too, just noone can be arsed pointing out the similarities because half the people at a venue dont know anything baout his previous acts

I think that Tiesto IS getting too progressive, even though I don't mind the progressive he plays, I jus wish he would continue to play uplifting tracks as well! I think things'll pick up again though! Well...I hope!

I was on the Essential Mix Mailing List and you wouldn't believe how much they were Progressive Snobs. They would totally diss Tiesto's style of trance (pre-Revolution/Magik 7) as euro-trash, and wouldn't even give PVD much respect. My two favorite DJs! I like Tiesto's new and old style... maybe Armin Van Buuren will take over as standard-bearer for pure uplifting trance from now on...
patticus
when did tiesto get progressive?
some specific examples please?
i havent heard anything like that in his recent sets.

and dont say "flight 643" because he said that was just an aberraton from the norm, as in, he just did that one style for fun.
he SAID in an interview that he's not changing his sound (i.e. uplifting)

so whats goin on?

also think muse - newborn (perfecto mix) isnt that prog, imho

I agree with youm but if we discuss Magik 7 - we sholud also pay attention to the number of tracks written by Tiesto (I see only Flight 643). And maybe it is so because of great number of livesets he plays now... summer vacations will be very productive for all of us ;)

I think itīs important, that a dj tries to change his style, or wanna see pvd playing for an angel on every set in the next 10 years ? :)
In my opinion the both new sets @ club eau and @ qontact are great :)
Itīs a mixture from epic and progressiv trance and there are may records i like very much....
But i hope, that tiesto is not getting too progressiv, i think at this time itīs okay :)

omg is my english bad :)

Does anybody know why Tiesto stopped producing under the alias 'Allure'?? Cause I think it was around that time, or shortly afterwards that I noticed his style began to change a bit. anybody else agree?

Patticus I totally agree with you. Tiesto is not progressive at all and I havent heard any sets of his as of late that indicate this. Progressive is Digweeed, Lawler, Deep Dish...not Tiesto. I like Tiesto but he can get boring at times. I understand that a dj's sets that are played around the same time will be similar. Also it is not Tiesto's fault that they have been downloaded but he releases so many cd's that are so similar. (And I dont mean the ones released in Europe vs. the ones released in USA) He needs some new vinyl cause he is playing the same stuff all the time. Furthermore he is very similar to Oakey. I have been to and heard sets where he plays numerous songs from either Another World or Travelling. Here in NYC he played Lost Vagueness, Eugina, Diamondback, Flesh, and others and of course Silence (which needs to be sorely retired) all in 3 hours. He played the same songs at Innercity when I was there too. Most (and there are others) of these songs are played by Oakey on his "tour" of America.

D-Syde said it rite...when I got Magik 5 I hadnt heard any of the songs before with the exception of Airwave...the album was pure heaven and I began to worship tiesto. Not the case for Magik 7...which I didnt even bother to chek out cos I have half the songs already as singles.

Tiesto is the least progressive. And I like it when he drops some old goodies in the sets like Airwave's Alone in the dark in the Dutch Dimension set.

I am laying off tiesto sets for a while...Armin is kicking butt with some excellent fresh stuff.:)
