Hi guys,

with my decks out of the way (saving for technics), i want to learn how to produce!!

I have tried fruity loops studio but i heard i should start off with reason 2.5? its not a problem getting it but im just wondering what i should start off with?

thanks

I would say, just try them both. Experiment with both demo versions and then decide which you prefer most!

good luck!

just use the magic search button and there will be MANY discussions about what to use...

and by all thoose discussions you will find out that it's a mather of personal taste.....

there is pro producers using booth... don't know who are using reason, but for example flutlicht, cosmic gate and parker are using fruityloops.

so try them out and see which YOU like best... no one can deside for you

//a happy fruity user :)

thanks for feedback.

I had fruity studio but someone said to use reason 2.5 as its way better and takes about the same time to learn it.

But i'll try both!

are they both similar programs? same basic ideas/features etc?

Well

Fruityloops simple, Fruity is very easy, and it has the same quality as reason with the right VST's it just lack good samples

Reason, well it lacks nice trance presets for beginners, but the sample bank is just amazing..dreamy pads, awesome preccussion, all high quality..

so it depends.. i started with FL, i saw people making awesome trance tracks, with reason, then i got reason 2.5, and couldn't make a thing, so i started collecting VST's and i started to make some tracks..in FL

Reason has an annoying user interface, the edit automation window sucks so small, you can't copy and paste patterns if you have the song playing, noo you need to stop it first then you can copy and paste stuff(freaks me out), i could complain more, but its not worth it, reason is good if you always practice with it, but if you never produced before i really say FL is the best way to start.

Nah. This i pure ignorance.
You can copy/paste/drag n'drop evetything in the Arrange view while playing in Reason.
And you can have the Edit Automation window fill your entire screen if you like.

And shouldnt there be a sticky thread for noob's asking how to produce ? Call it HOW TO START PRODUCING and explain what seems to be the obvious answer; Read the manual(!), try yourself, and experiment lots.

Just my 2 cents of raving.

Cheers
