Hey guys,
I'm sending a demo mix to a local club that I want to dj at.
Their idea of trance is darude- sandstorm and that dj sammy track :)
Here's the tracklist of my mix that I hope will show them what good
electronic music is about, and also hopefully land me a job.
1) panoptic- surface
2) pqm- you are sleeping (chable remix)
3) moguai- u know y (starecase mix)
4) ashtrax- helsinki (sander k remix)
5) tiesto- obsession (original)
6) james holden- nothing (original)
7) ficivision vs c-quence-- symbols
8) solarstone- release
9) ... gasp ... pvd- nothing but you (pvd club mix)
what do you all think?
cheers

Hi,
I too am trying out for a gig at a local club. I can't imagine their idea of trance expands much beyond pop trance, but I am hoping it does. As for your mix, if the club had a trance room and a house room I'd say ur pretty money, but if its strictly trance they are looking for, then try for a trancier mix and keep in back up ur original mix, cuz u can always switch it up later once u have built a foundation on trance. The club I am aiming for has a separate house room so I think there one would be able to get away with house, but quality trance, even for Darude lovers, should still get you that gig. Well, thats what rationality would lead us to believe, but people are always weird.
Good luck, wish me some too haha |

| unless you know the club owner is looking for proper trance, suck up a little until you earn his respect. if the owner is your average punk he won't know anything about that list until you play it for him. |

mixing the Original mix of Nothing into Symbols and then into Release is BADDD
there is no flow whatsoever to that: prog > uplifting trance > chilled prog-trance
most clubs around here use prog djs for their openers...but if all they play in your club is outdated cheese you might be in trouble.
good luck man! :) |

i'd definitely change something in that little part of the mix, like someone said you just can't stick a big uplifter in the middle of some prog tunes. though that tracklist looks really quality - perhaps too quality for the job you're looking for, heh. if i were you i'd put some tunes even more obvious in there.
btw, you'd probably get more feedback in the amateur dj promotion forum or in the dj booth forum. |
