How to split a dj-set

Hi

Can somebody give a detailed tutorial how to split up a cd-length track ? Everybody is talking about those cue files but I've never seen a decent explanation so that would be really usefull. I understand more or less how to make a cue file but how do u make cdrwin to burn it? I also tried nero 6 but there it says my logitech 52xdoesn't support no pauze between track for first track .. some bull + you have to split them fysically if you work this way which is unhandy.
Thanx on advance :toocool:

go to the chillout forum and do a search...there was a really good one way back in the day...its a long ass thread with like 60+ pages and somewhere in the middle ;)
hey cheggy
I got the same thing with my cd burner and nero. I accidently clicked continue and when the cd came out, there were no gaps between the tracks, not even between track 1 and two. I think maybe that the gap it needs is between the beginning of the cd and the start of track 1.

That's normal, those are requisites for the Redbook and Orangebook format. There HAS to be a pause of minimal 2 seconds before the first track of the cd. Red book doesn't allow gapless cd's, orangebook does.

Everybody is always saying to do it the cue file way. I never do this (partially because I'm never satisfied with the timings given on the cue files you find on the net).

But basically there are two methods to do this.

1) the cue file method, be sure the filename the cuefile points to is exact, and the filetype description is exact too (MP3 for mp3, WAVE for wav files).

2) use a decent audio editing program with integrated burning capabilities like Wavelab or Samplitude (not older Soundforge versions, dunno yet about version 7, it might finally support disk at once). Be sure that pause between tracks is set to 0s (most apps still default at 2, even in DAO mode).

Either way, you must be sure that Disk at Once (DAO) burning is selected. This is the mode that is required to burn gapless orange book cd's. Track at Once is redbook, so you'll still have gaps.

thanx for the hints,
I managed to get rid of those 2sec pauze but the cue thing doesn't work. In nero it gives :
An error occured while loading the cue sheet file c:\...\...\casette.cue (line1)

this is my cue file :

FILE "casette.mp3” MP3

TRACK 01 AUDIO
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
INDEX 01 18:31:07
TRACK 03 AUDIO
INDEX 01 40:32:00
TRACK 04 AUDIO
INDEX 01 61:21:60
TRACK 05 AUDIO
INDEX 01 75:20:65

In fireburner it crashes :
access violation at adress blablabla

and i have to hit ctrl-alt-del

ps : i made sure my file (casette.mp3) is in my casette.cue dir

Use CDRWIN to burn .cue files. It tells you what line of the cue file has an error in it, so it's eay to correct it and burn successfully.
