remember in cher - believe how her voice was modified electronically, well i thought that was alright at first, but so many trance tracks have got that now. i love to hear the sound of a perfect female voice over tracks, not a modified one.
wot do u think?

No, I disagree with you on that one.
My favorite voice effect is when the voice is "fractured" or "time-stretched" like in BT - Dreaming, also the voice effect in The Generator - Where Are You Now is pretty cool.
Without these special effects I think the songs would be more flat and uninteresting.

the effect he was on about in that cher song isn't time stretcbing, it's that dodgy vocoder that makes you sound like the synthesized voice on an amiga :) The same effect was used in such cheesy dance classics as 'Eiffel 65 - Blue' and 'Stardust - The music sounds better with you'... all of them are complete arse. :p

btw: I like time stretching effects too... that bit in 'crazy malamute - free to ride' where everything slooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwssssssss dooooooooooowwwwwwwwnnnnn. it's class :D:D:D

I would imagine most WAV editors like Acid and Cubase let you do that, it's a typical filter that's included with almost every music software.

I think they probably use Audiotune

That cher effect is autotune i think
some plugin to make sure a singer doesn't sing flase notes abused

vocoder effect sounds different
like
underworld - cups
THAT's a voco
