| i think the emoticon trivialized the statement. i use emoticons for silly, happy, non-serious things only because i think they detract from the import of a solemn statement. |

In other news several thousand people lost their lives today when a storm came ashore.
Our top story tonight takes place in East Asia where 5000 people were killed today when a massive typhoon with deadly 200kmph winds came ashore wrecking havoc and devestation across the land.
