I am constantly in need of voice and video chat using MSN, but I find myself always unable to accomplish my needs. The main reason for this is my setup at home:
I have a computer with webcam and microphone, and a local ip adress
behind a linux gateway.
Of course I understand the principles around my problem, my computer is behind a gateway with a local ip adress. Hence no one can connect to my pc, because the Internet cannot see my machine behind my gateway/firewall.
What can be done, what ports can be opened to make this possible?
Of course the last resort would be to directly connect my machine onto the internet without a gateway, but I know it is possible to accomplish voice/video conference without being directly connected to the Internet. |
