Detectives are investigating an allegation that a group of Premiership footballers sexually assaulted a teenager at a top London hotel.
The 17-year-old girl reported the alleged attack to police in central London at the weekend, Scotland Yard said.
She claims up to eight Premiership stars were involved.
The girl told police she consented to sex with a player from one Premiership club - but seven other footballers from another club then forced themselves on her, according to The Sun newspaper.
Detectives from Operation Sapphire, Scotland Yard's task force to deal with sex crimes, were investigating the allegations.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said today: "We can confirm that the Metropolitan Police Service have received an allegation of rape from a 17-year-old female.
"At this stage it would be inappropriate to comment further."
No players or clubs have been named by the police in connection with the allegation.
None of the Premiership clubs contacted today were prepared to comment.
The Premier League also made no comment, as did the Professional Footballers Association.

The girl reported the rape to police in central London, Scotland Yard confirmed.
The girl's claims are now being investigated by detectives on Operation Sapphire, the Met's task force to tackle sex crimes.
Detectives will take a statement from the girl before making further inquiries with anyone she claims as being involved in the alleged attack.

this) are that an Arsenal player (I am not going to repeat the players name
here) was the one having consentual sex with the girl. The others
(Newcastle players) showed up drunk and rowdy and the girl didn't want to
put on a sex show and asked the Arsenal player to stop and said she wanted
to leave. The Arsenal player kept going anyway and then the others wouldn't
let her leave the room and you can guess the rest of what the rumour
entails. I stress once again this is total speculation and the source is a
Newcastle messageboard from a, supposed, Newcastle Utd fan. The reports say
she did have consentual sex with a player, but it doesn't say whether that
player kept going whilst she begged him to stop. This is bloody horrifying
and I hope that none of it is true and that people's imaginations are
running away with themselves. |

Bernard was involved in an alleged rape incident earlier this year and he doesn't match one of the outlined faces shown in the sun.
One of them looks like Solksjaer and two of them actually look like Glenn Roeder :eek:
We will just have to wait and see if these rumours are indeed fabricated. |

I hate the sun. Thats not the point tho, this has all to do with them. It was on all the news channels/papers/news sites etc here

I bet Kieron Dyers involved how many times to read about him getting into with birds etc.
However in the star today they had a blurred out pic of who the player supposidly was however it was impossible to tell as the pic was black and white, and the player was wearing casual clothes aswell, however he was either white or of mixed race. Also the time the rape took place this player was seen on CCTV leaving the club with a group of friends and 4 models.
Another thing the girl and her father have gone to see Max Clifford. I think we've got another little sad invidual who wants to ruin peoples lives in search for a bit of cash. Anyone who is involved with Clifford have a high chance of bullting to earn money just look at the people he's been involved with on certain cases. |
