Unfortunately I think the Israeli government won't actually steal land (I think "stealing" land is a good political strategy, as I mentioend earlier because it forces the Palestians to act for peace.. otherwise peace will take up to 50+ years). The Israelis at most will claim perhaps 5% of the disputed territories with this wall, you had to understand most "settlers" are people on or near the greenwall, of suburbs that have expanded from quiet large cities, such as Jerusalem.

I'll agree though whatever they are doing with Qalqilyah looks like a real mess, and I hope its going to be the only one of its kind due to the fence.

the fance will not go around all settelments, just the old and important ones and thats why bush has taken his cutting israeli money statement beck.

And BTW: does anone here knows about the ARAB settelments in israel as well??!

Well, I think a fence in general is not such a bad idea, but in practice it is not quite so. I don't know if this is what Yoepus reffered to, but I've seen a news report where some kids had to go through the fence to get to school, or where one part of a town was on one side of the fence, while the ohter part was on the other side.

Kind of like living on the "wrong side of the tracks"...

cyrus king i realy dont understand you!!
Israel is building the fence in order to take more terretory??
c'mon its realy bull , the only goal here is stopping the unending terror that comes from the west bank.
like no\almost no terrorist come from gaza strip which is sorrounded by fence, israel wants to have the same protection also form the west bank.

it costs tons of money, the great part of settelments stay out of the fence, israel just trying to do its best and be fair! Ariel is the biggest settelment and it is very close to the "green line" so israel decided to include it. we should remember, the fence is for protecting lives of citizens, it will not always be built like the PA wants it too, cause the PA even makes no effort in stopping the terror now.
and not only lives will be saved, also less terror, means both sided get closer to the negotiating table

and you say some palestinian kids will have problem going to their school........ c'mon poeple, so this little number of kids, will move a school , not a big deal when the issue here is life and death above all...

so ok the fence is not exactly the 67's line, but it comes as an answer to terror, not as a present to the PA.

you people are asking simply tooo much of Israel.

If you look closely you can see that Israel is doing more than just taking a little land... they are taking ALOT. I once saw a documentary about this fence which by the way was made by an Israeli, and they estimated that 11-23% of the west bank land which belongs to palestinians, is going to be taken becuase of a few families that seem to want to come behind the Israeli side.

One of my friends' families olive tree orchard was uprooted and the trees stolen so that the fence could be made. Not only are they stealing land, they are also stealing trees that took decades of effort to maintain and grow. Some of these families rely on the olives from those very trees to subsist. But Israel doesnt care, as long as their is a house miles away, they would rather destroy for this stupid family to be behind the security fence while dozens of other palestinian families are left with an orchard that feeds their families.

first of all it doesnt look ALOT to me from that scehma,
secondly,
so we build that fence to defend ourselves from the enemy, so now we should also sacrifice only our terretory, leaving the enemy 100% satisfied? The israeli goverment is responsible towords its citizins , and its a democracy lets not forget. The Israeli citizens suffer alot from the terror, and economic situation that comes with it, and now you also offer israel to sacrifice its own viliiges only in order to be fare?.....

and c'mon, you know that the real problem is not the way israel is acting, but the way the world likes to critisize almost every independent move it makes\considers (if you compare it to the critizism over Russia, USA).

it apears like the world feels, that israeli already signed an agreement promising to evacuate all seetelmnts, and already agreed for a palestinian state exatly on the 67's line.....but hey, that agreement was sabotaged by Arafat with the opening of prison door letting tons of HAMAS leaders\members to go free and with the flaming of the "Intifada"

this fence is a solution to fight suicide terrorism that maybe takes some land, but takes no life!
stop the bull about the olive trees, we talking here about popele blown inside a bus!!!

on the other hand,it makes me happy to know that this is all the palastinian propeganda can offer..
DrUg_Tit0
Well, if that map is correct, I must agree with Cyrus King on this one. It's not like it was that much harder to build the fence on the border itself, rather than have it protruding into palestinian land.
