I am planning to get Acces Virus...
Can I control Virus via Cubase? And is it "easy" or even possible to tweak/shape Virus' sounds via Cubase?
I now use Reason and Fruity (yeah, I know I could use Virus via Fruity, but I once tried that with my friend's Virus, and I just could not tweak/shape Virus' sounds really well...).
So do U guys and girls think that Cubase is better? |

You shouldn't have any problems running your Virus using MIDI from Cubase. I've never used Fruity (so can't really compare) but Cubase (especially SX) offers good MIDI handling, and some nice MIDI tools too.
As for shaping your sounds, you can set up plenty of MIDI CC data in Cubase without much difficulty, which then gets sent to the Virus to change the sound as it plays. Again, I don't know how much Fruity offers in this regard. |

Yeah, all the nobs on the virus send and recieve midi. Just open up an empty midi channel, select midi input as the virus (midi out of virus needs to be connected to midi in of computer). Then press record and tweak the nob you want to automate. I suggest using one cubase channel per virus function. |

Hey I don't know if this is what you want, but fruity has a "Midi Out" channel, which is basically a panel full of blank knobs and a fader... You can assign every knob to be a certain output and have a certain label, and save the whole thing as an FST file so you can reuse it in later projects. As far as I know, that should make it alot easier to start automating the virus with fruity too. |

Blank knobs...Do U mean those under "Filters 1, Filters 2, Oscilators 1..."? <>
Or am I now in totally wrong panel??
I just have some really hard times to use thsoe knobs :wtf: They are sooo damn difficult to tweak jsut a small amount! My nervs :whip: |

Ummm..... the midi out is just a controller, and so doesn't have any oscillators, you might be in the wrong panel. Just go CHANNELS/ADD ONE/MIDI OUT, then click the plugin tab, and you'll see the blank knobs I'm talking about. |

Oh...now I see :)
They reallya re blank, but that's before I choose the MIDI OUT -> PRESET thing... then those blank knobs do chance in to filters and others :) or am I still in wrong panel?
if I am in right panel... I still can't controll the knobs, they are so damn difficult to tweak :( |

heehee - yeah the preset things are basically the fruity people giving you a saved version of how they tweaked the midi out for certain devices.... what you would do is name and assign alllll the knobs so it fit YOUR device, then save it, and then your settings would become a preset for easy use.
I haven't had much experience with the midi out thing beyond that, other than to know that it really won't control anything unless you have all the midi options checked (like enable remote and stuff) up above, and for me personally it didn't work until I installed midi yoke. |

To use a virus with Cubase (at least with Cubase SX) go to Access' website:
http://accessmusic.de
then support, then select the model of virus you have, scroll down and look for the cubase patch (they are normally listed way down on the list of files). Unzip follow the directions of the readme and you are good to go.
For a virus C on Cubase SX you want the following link:
http://accessmusic.de/downloads.php...virusc&file=187
I am using a virus C (desktop) so I prefer to manually adjust the knobs myself. Therefore, I am not sure if there is an easy way to manipulate each paramater individually within cubase. I know that you can use sounddriver (which should have come with your virus, or is downloadable from access' website) to do this however. |

Has anybody here had experience with using the Soundriver software? Is there anyway of using it in CubaseSX? I've been able to use it seperately, however, whenever I run it while running CubaseSX, the programs have issues sharing the midi out and so the soundriver program won't control my virus (ie won't send the midi signals) |

You can't use Cubase SX and Sounddiver at the same time. Midi issues. |
