Converting MIDI into WAV or MP3 & making music in the MIDI & MOD (IT) formats

Where can I find a decent piece of software to convert my MIDI files into WAVs or MP3s? I'm looking for something that bypasses the hardware like Midi2Wav Recorder from Rina Soft. Are there any free or low-cost alternative to this Midi2Wav Recorder?
I've been wondering if anyone in here has had any experience in making music in the MIDI or MOD (IT version) formats. I've heard some pretty impressive music in the IT MOD format. Check out some of what's on www.modarchive.com. Acecream has some nice stuff on there! :-) How can I get started in composing in either of these (MIDI or MOD) formats? What are my system requirements, etc.?
All helpful information is very appreciated.
Thanks very much! |

I used to track with IT 'back in the day'... I'm really not sure why someone would be enticed by that these days, since there are so many FAR better programs like Fruityloops out there.
But if you really insist on making mods, there's a Windows-based tracker at modplug.com (products). Your system requirements are basically anything with a soundcard that was built in the last 10 years. |

I didn't know IT / MOD was practically obsolete. I recently downloaded some MODs by someone named "Acecream" off www.MODarchive.com and they sound very nice. So, any MIDI info? |
