i have a pair of Technic 1200 mk2s and for some reason the white channel plug doesnt work for either of them.....i dont know what the deal is or how it happened.....but i wanted to know if there is a way i could put new RCA plugs on the tables if there is a way and how would that be done??????? i really need someone to help me out on this

Are you positive it's not your mixer?
TranceCluber
yes positive ..cuz the white channel plug on each table doesnt work....... at first i thought it was the mixer..but when i chaneged the plugs around the channel that didnt work before worked ont he mixer so the only possible solution is that the white channel plug doesnt work only red channel plug...both channels on the mixer works..its just not getting a signal frm the white channel plug......so i want to know how can u put new cables in there or fix this !!

Isolate whether it is the cables or something inside the deck that is the problem. Here's what to do - connect the red plug on the cable to the white socket on the table. Leave the other unconnected. If you do get sound, the problem is with the cable. Just buy a new cable. If it doesn't work, then the problem is with your turntable - slightly more complicated! You're gonna have to get it seen to. Take it to a hi-fi shop, I wouldn't advise taking it apart yourself.

Before you go splicing new cables on....check and make sure that it's not just the headshell sitting crooked. Unscrew the headshell and make sure that the contacts are clean....maybe take a Qtip with some alcohol on it and clean the contacts.Make sure that the wires going to your cartridge are on securely, as well. If that doesn't help, then maybe think about splicing a new cable on.

how do i slip new cabels on?????? the cabels go directly into the device

Ya got to open the whole shebang! (Loadsa fun! Haven't been inside mine for ages! Come to think of it...I haven't even lifted the platter recently!):D

Seriously, you have to open your decks, which you can either do yourself, or get done by an authorized dealer. Doing it yourself isn't too hard actually, as long as you have a certain idea of what you're doing. There are a lot of Technics resource pages out on the net. I think Technics even has a little guide on how to change parts on your decks. It'll give you a good idea of how they're put together. I've assembled 1210's from scratch, using all the spare parts and all. Seeing as though you're feeling quite uncertain however, I would recommend that you go to a dealer like DJTJ said...

Hope it helps :)

Did you get this sorted out in the end? Cos I have another theory on what it could be...
Some Ortofon cartriges have some connection issues. The bananas, especially, have their connection pins in the wrong place and are too short. They often drop channels because the connection fails. If you are using these carts then it might be this rather than your cables that are the problem!

I love being right :D
ummm...

You probably don't want to be doing this, but hey, the thought just came into my head...
Try getting a soldering iron and some solder, and add a bit of extra length to the conection pins.

Actually, no, don't! You're bound to destroy something. Only thing I can suggest is return the cartridges to where you bought them and get them replaced - they should do this, as it's a product fault and not use wear. Try the new ones, hopefully they'll be better, if not take them back again and the shop may take pity on you and give you some more expensive ones as a replacement. But try to avoid Ortofon's this time!
