How can you make a two-mile long train fit into a 1 mile long tunnel.

| well u could blow up the train, then u could easily fit nothing into a 1 mile long tunnel :D |

| one track bending in on itself and running back the other way would allow a 2 mile train to fit in a 1 mile tunnel. now a better question...how can a 5 mile train fit in a 1 mile tunnel. muah hahahahahaha.:stongue: |

| seeing as a tunnel is open-ended, the train will fit through it. you didn't say anything about height or width, or the entire train having to fit. |

Well, I've heard this kind of question in terms of the relativity paradox.
If the train is travelling at half the speed of light, then the train is only 1 mile long in the rest frame of the tunnel.
It doesn't exactly work out that way though, because once the train stops then it's again 2 miles in terms of the rest frame. It fits inside while it's moving because it's compressed, but would not fit after it stops. |

She hit it on the head. You never said the whole train has to be inside/under the tunnel at once, so assuming a train can fit through it, it does not matter what length it is. |

its closer to the actual speed of light but yeah :D |

Actually, he said fit "into" it, not "through" it, so unless it's a riddle that he worded wrong, I don't think that's the answer. |
