easy tiger, you're making yourself sound silly with those kinds of assumptions and comments. find a way to make an intelligent argument.
i'm catching the drift that you may be catholic. guess what, my family is catholic so you don't need to say i don't know what i'm talking about. i see it as a little irrelevant where modern law has evolved from because it is now modern.
as far as accountability, i had the sex abuse scandal, the church's silence during the holocaust and several other instances in mind. where is the accountability for that? excommunication matters only to the devoutly catholic and is threfore not much of a deterrant. there are more examples that can be counted of church clergy believing themselves beyond accountability.
beyond all that, my comment was sarcastic as well. the catholic church seems intent on disregarding lots of scientific evidence and remaining firmly rooted in the dark ages. |

Another ing thread about Catholics nice...
I'm not religious at all so are my parents, but my grandparents etc are quite devout.
To be honest all religions are ing e, they cause wars etc we'd be a lot better off without them.
However everyone here really seems to hate the Catholic church I think might be good if I started up threads slagging down Judaism, Islam etc I think that would unsettle a few of you ;) But then again I'd probably get accused of being Nazi Bigot tattoed white trash scum :rolleyes:
But on a further note are you all so blind and ignorant to think the Catholic church is the only church with scandels?
Oh and murder people Arbiter? look at the history of Ireland and how people died due to the Protestant church and English rule. And to round it off you have marches by blue nosed ing bigots through Catholic streets all summer signing how their in control and how every Roman Catholic should die, and the best thing is the police stop the residents of the streets from getting to them. Now I bet if I that was against any other religion they'd get arrested and go to jail for hate crimes. |

True, Catholics do tend to be targeted when there is a religion to blame, but it's not like there isn't evidence to back it up. I don't think anyone was intentionally omitting that other religions have made mistakes and been responsible for some horrendous things, but the topic of the thread was Catholicism.
As for "slagging" (I only put that in quotations because I'm American and can't pull it off otherwise) Judaism and Islam, look at most of the threads here. They pretty much boil down to the Israel/Palestine conflict, although it's become about which group is right, not which religion is right. Few people, aside from Islam extremists, seem to care much about which faith is right so much as which person/group is right (read: more powerful).
Besides, it's now ok to bash Catholics because people have been doing it for so long :rolleyes: I think it's the only religion available for that now. I think any logical person knows that the Catholic church is not the only religion with scandals, but it is the most publicized, particularly in America right now. |

Nah, I hate all religions, be it christian, jewish, islam or whatever. They should all be destroyed. Maybe I'd let budhism survive. They're sort of live and let live philosophy, I guess there's not much harm in letting them survive. Under strict control, of course. |
