i cant explain the technical aspects but from what i listen to progressive defines itself. progressive build up, oftens starts slow, and builds to a climax, then goes back down, and builds back up to another climax. uplifting is consistent with the beats and starts hard hitting and keeps the pace up throughout the whole song.

Pretty well said there Trance Control. To add to that progressive is pretty repetitive and the track sounds like its slowly building throughout it. Uplifting has a lot more emotion and large synth leads and a bit faster beats.
Here's a couple of examples:

Progressive: DJ Tiesto - Flight 643

Uplifting: Ian van Dahl - Castles in the sky

Hope this helps you!:D

perfect progressive example: Dawnseekers - Protuberance
Perfect uplifitng trance: Travel - Pray To Jeruzalem(euphoric mix)

I hope these are correct because they don't play that in any club in LI. All I hear is bass beats with songs but no melody. At Least we have DERB!!
