BMW x5 by far, unless your going with top of the range range rover.

What are the best makers of SUVs in the US?, they seem to build far more impressive ones

buy an E reg Nissan pick up. itll do the same job for a 1,000th of the price.

screw the rover
buy the bmw, its luxury to the max

Get the X5 as you pobably wont cross the amazon o the sahara desert with your car :) The X5 is killer in the city and can handle it self on rough terain 2 but not as much as a rover of course. It wasnt designed for that.

As for engines you can always get a 4.6iS but that might hurt your ego as your wife will leave that skyline miles behind on the open road :D So 4.4 is great (theres a facelift comming soon and the current 4.4l engine will be replaced with the one from the 745) or if you dont want your wife to get any speeding tickets a 3.0D (but even that one will do over 220km/h)

Another choice would be the VW Tuareg, id place it betwee the bmw and the rover. Its handles ok, way better than the Ox offroad, looks are not bad...not a bad piece of machinery, my friends dad owns one and we took it for a drive...not bad but on the road the bmw handles way better
