This event kicked ass!!

It wasn't like Movement, full of clueless people asking, "why's he playing so fast!?" :haha: "Think about it moron....his name is Speedy J for FFS!!" It was completely old school, nothin but 200 or so fans and they were going crazy and loving it! Women up on men's shoulders, hands in the air. Recurrent chants of "SPEE-DY-J" would sharply arise during his ominous breakdowns only to dissolve back into the foggy ambience as the beats consumed the frantic crowd. Hehe..ok I gotta stop, not writing a magazine article here. :tongue2

Anyway this was at the same place as the Paxahau 5 Year (only on a different level), a warehouse downtown equiped with Burst lighting and sound (aka. kickass lighting and sound). I got there just as Speedy came on and was standing right up front near one of the speakers and it was so loud I couldn't even stand it, it was literally rattling my ear drums so I had to back off. There was a ton of fog and that mixed with Burst's lighting actually made me lose my balence several times, didn't fall or anything just had to stop dancing....and no I wasn't intoxicated. He played this long 20 minute intro before the bass finally kicked in with his remix of Adam Beyer's Ignition Key. And holy $heet did the bass come!! I think my body jolted a few inches off the concrete when he dropped that bass!! If you've ever listened to any of his sets many of the tricks he does would be very familier to you. This set was real similar to his Shockers set from earlier this year.

In short, if ya didn't go, ya missed out!
