use your ears. by the sound of it, you are relying solely on the beat counter... beat counters should only be used as a saftey net. if you get acustomed(sp?) to having them at most times you might become dependant. if you become dependant, the wost case scenario would be, "you are asked to play out, and you get there and realize theres no beat counters"
also, beat counters arent that good of a saftey net either. they only pick up spikes in the low, and low-mid ranges.... so if the track is a break-beat, or thers just alot goin on in the low ranges, the counter will register more, or less beats than are actully happening and throw you off. |
