The function is called Key lock, but in fact it has nothing to do with key (as in harmonics). It simply defines how the sync button works.

You know pressing the sync button while playing automatically tries to lock the tune to the live playing one... It can basically do it in two ways.

If the key lock is off, the sync button will try to lock both tunes with pitch bending (like temporarily speeding the tune's speed until it's running in sync with the other tune).

If key lock is on, it will try to lock with a phase shift (basically, it will jump/skip the tune so it's locked to the other one).

thanks :)
im just messin around with the program. its pretty hard to actally do a transition with it though. the auto beat match sucks and to actually beat match is pretty hard since you cant actually "touch" the song like i can with vinyl

cheers dj thy :)

yeah manually beatmatching with traktor is .
Dj Thy
I find it pretty easy, but then again it depends on how you actually beatmatch. I learned to do it the pitch riding way (never actually touch the record, only make adjustments with the pitch slider). When you are familiar with this method, there is absolutely NO difference between different media (except maybe the precision of the pitch). The only thing you need to do is start the tune, and tweaking the pitch slider. And as all dj related sources have that in common, it's a pretty universal method.

That's why I never say programs like Traktor are bad. Most people say it's not real dj'ing. Bullsh*t! Dj'ing has nothing to do with being a poser with turntables. A dj spins music, point.

Now if you use all those auto beatmatch features, yes then it is bad. But if you learn to use the program the universal way, there is absolutely no problem. You still are beatmatching like it should, and the only thing you need are your ears. When you move on to hardware, you'll see it will be pretty easy to make the change.

I agree to a certain extent, but for the DJ who beatmatches by dragging and pushing the platter as well as adjusting the pitch, traktor sucks. the pitch bend is ... and the accuracy of the pitch slider is also . But Traktor is definitely a good way to learn many of the things involved in mixing.
Dj Thy
Again don't agree. The pitch precision is more accurate than 90% of the hardware cddj players even (goes down to 0.03%). And pitch bend, if you want it to react realistically (like on a cddj for instance) set it to 4% or even 2%

i have tractor midi mapped to my maudio - radium. is there a way to adjust the pitch range to only +-10%? so i can work it better on the silders
